Thomas Miles Richardson Snr. (1784-1848), The Old Newgate, Newcastle, pencil and watercolour heightened with white, with hand written attribution and note verso: 'Sketch by T M Richardson of the Old Newgate, Newcastle which was used as a prison. This sketch was taken at a time when a crowd is watching at the gate to see a condemned man about to be brought out to be taken in a cart up Gallow Gate to the place of execution. The cart containing a coffin, the Sherriff and the Javelin Men, the Chaplain in a three cornered hat, and some of the buys from the Green Coat School are all to be seen in this sketch. Lent by the Rt Hon Sir Gainsford Bruce', also bears label 'The Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle-upon Tyne, J Bruce Esq.', 11in x 14½in (28cm by 37cm), reframed in its original giltwood and gesso frame, dimensions including frame and mount 25in x 28in (63.5cm x 71cm), some foxing.

A Pair of Charles II Silver Trefid Spoons, Maker's Mark IP, Star Above, Crescent Below, London, Circa 1680, the back of the handles each engraved with initials 'M' over 'T*M', the back of the bowl with foliage cast and beaded rat-tail, 20cm long, 2oz 18dwt, 90gr (2) . One is is fully marked on the back of the handle. The other is marked with maker's mark, leopard's head and lion passant. There is some wear to the marks, particularly the lion passant and the date letter. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as some minor wear to the edge of the bowls. The surface is somewhat bright.

A Victorian Gold Propelling-Pencil, by Sampson Mordan and Co. Circa 1880, cylindrical, with foliage cast finial with amethyst coloured glass seal terminal, the body decorated with foliage scrolls on a matted ground, in fitted case, the case 10cm long, the pencil 11cm extended. The shaft stamped 'Sampson Mordan & Co'. The nib stamped lead size 'M' or 'W'. In generally good condition. The propelling mechanism functions properly, there is no lead in the pencil to test to see if it writes properly. There is some scuffing and wear to the leather case.
