LENZ - DIE VERSTEINERUNG 94Privatsammlung, WienKurt Hüpfner beschäftigt sich in seinem Werk häufig mit tragischen Persönlichkeiten aus Mythos, Religion und Geschichte. Eine dieser Figuren ist Jakob Michael Reinhold Lenz, ein Schriftsteller des Sturm und Drang. Georg Büchner hat das Leben und den Tod des früh an Schizophrenie Erkrankten in der dramatischen Erzählung Lenz verarbeitet. Hüpfner stellt Lenz als eine in sich geschlossene Figur dar, aus deren Rücken die Lehne eines Stuhls zu wachsen scheint. Typisch für Hüpfner ist die zweidimensionale Darstellung, der Verzicht auf räumliche Tiefe. Dem Untertitel zufolge ereilt Lenz gerade die "Versteinerung", ausgedrückt durch die monoton graue Farbgebung. (Selin Stütz)
