A Victorian mantel clock surmounted by a bronzed figure of a lady in repose leaning against the barrel with enamelled dial and Roman chapters having brass bezel, with French numbered movement striking on bell, on an architectural style plinth with applied green variegated marble panels above a rectangular moulded base. (13.5in).
An impressive gilt metal clock garniture, the architectural style timepiece flanked by a pair of candelabra with embossed scrolled vases and pierced borders, the clock with enamelled dial having Roman chapters with German movement striking on bell, the candelabra each with six candle nozzles embossed with foliate moulding supported on scrolled hoof feet, all three pieces with applied mask and shell decoration. A pair of polychrome and gilded alto rilievo saints within architectural niches, Spanish, 17th century, the figures of the apostles St Paul (with sword) and St Peter (with Key), probably part of an altarpiece, in Renaissance style scalloped niches surmounted by cherubs, decorated with traditional estofado gilding, retouching (2) h.55cm., w.30cm.

Wing B2801A, citing just 2 copies. The fourth and latest of the great Polyglot Bibles, known as the London, or Walton's Polyglot, was first published in 6 volumes in 1655-57. The New Testament was issued separately, as here, with a fresh title-page and the addition of the "variis lectionibus", in 1698.
