An early 19th Century mahogany and boxwood inlaid Wheel Barometer, C Trombetta, Norwich, the architectural pediment (replaced) to a waisted case, set with inlaid shell design, and silvered alcohol thermometer over a spun brass bezel with convex glass, enclosing an 8” silvered dial with scale of 28-31, height 37 ½”
A late 19th Century black slate and variegated marble Mantel Clock, the architectural case with plain pediment, over half columns and plinth base, to a cast bras bezel enclosing a 4 ½” Roman enamelled dial with outside minute track and fleur de lys hands, to a circular brass movement , with anchor escapement, strike on a coil gong, height 14 ½”
An early 17th century joined oak, walnut and holly panelled chest, probably made in Southwark, in two parts, the rectangular moulded top above a dog tooth cornice and diagonal inlay to the frieze, above four long drawers with applied mouldings, with geometric panels and elm linings, flanked by panelled sides with architectural arches to the central panels, with a fretted apron on stile feet, 123cm high, 126cm wide, 58cm deep (restored). The type of inlay used on this chest is often attributed to immigrant German craftsman working in the Southwark area of London in the late 16th and early 17th centuries
An important Charles I joined oak chest, West Country, circa 1630, of architectural form, profusely carved with gadrooning, rosettes and scrolled foliage, the hinged top enclosing a shallow compartment with a narrow lidded well with steeply sloping interior (conforming to the shape of the pediment), the front with a central pediment with an inset bone plaque dated ‘1630’, above carved three-quarter columns and an arrangement of eight short drawers and one long deep drawer, flanked by side panels with conforming columns, on early front spirally turned bun feet, 107cm high, 125cm wide, 52cm deep. This chest can be attributed to the West Country by the style of decoration.
A fine 17th century Spanish polychrome and gilt decorated vargueno on chest, the upper section applied with engraved ivory panels and velvet backed wrought iron strapwork mounts, with side carrying handles, the fall front with an elaborate lock plate and clasp, enclosing an architectural polychrome and gilt decorated interior, with thirteen drawers around a central door enclosing three further drawers, the lower section with recess panelled sides and wrought iron carrying handles, the front with two lopers with carved shell terminals, above four geometric mitred, polychrome and parcel gilt decorated drawers, on turned bun feet, 158cm high, 109cm wide, 46cm deep. See Sotheby’s, New Bond Street, 29th October 2003, lot 181 for a similar vargueno on chest which is not as complete as the Boarsney house example and Sotheby’s, New York, 19th May 2006, lot 45 for a vargueno on an open stand with a similarly decorated interior.
An Hispano-Flemish ebony, pewter and green-stained bone marquetry cabinet-on-stand of architectural breakfront form with an arrangement of drawers inlaid with grotesques and scrolls, centred by a portico with figure in a niche opening to reveal a perspectived mirrored interior, the stand with two male and two female silvered and giltwood term supports, 179cm. high x 130cm. wide, late 17th century and later (some reconstruction and restoration).

*Lamplough (Augustus Osborne, 1877-1930). Evening on the Banks of the Nile, with Tomb of the Kings beyond, watercolour, signed lower left, approx. 495 x 720 mm (19.5" x 28.5"), framed and glazed Augustus Lamplough was a landscape and architectural painter, who specialised in views of the Middle East and North Africa. He exhibited at the Royal Cambrian Academy, Walker Gallery, Liverpool, and The Fine Art Society. (1)
*Cobb (Victor Ernest, 1876-1945). 'The Geelong Grammar School, Corio', 1931, etching, signed, titled and numbered 9/85 in pencil, plate size approx. 190 x 380 mm (7.5 x 15 ins), with margins, framed and glazed Victor Ernest Cobb was born in Melbourne, and studied at the National Gallery School under L. Bernard Hall. His reputation is based on his etchings of the architectural features of Melbourne, including views of the city, as well as coastal and countryside scenes. (1)
*Fitton (Hedley, R.E., 1859-1929). Rialto Bridge, Venice, etching, signed and titled in pencil to lower margin, plate size approx. 365 x 335 mm (14.25 x 13.25 ins), mounted Hedley Fitton was an etcher who specialised in architectural views and street scenes in London, Florence, Venice and elsewhere. He was awarded a gold medal by the Société des Artistes Francais. (1)

Beale R44. A good wide-margined copy of the second edition of the year books from the 40th to the 50th, and last year of the reign of Edward III (1367-77). The year books are the first English law reports and are not just one of the foundations of English law but of every legal system in the world which has taken the common law as its model. (1)
