A Victorian oak architectural bracket clock by James Williams, Castle Street Liverpool, the architectural pediment with brass frieze and turned finials surmounts a gilt dial set with Roman numerals and silvered chapter ring, above a Gothic frieze and with mounted plaque stating 'Presented to Mr James Scott of the Cunard Office staff on the occasion of his marriage, 21st June 1894', height 43.5cm. CONDITION REPORT Small chips from both finials and from around the rear door clasp, piece of the classical pediment missing.
Interior Sculpture: ▲ A pair of polished aluminium mannequins designed by Nigel Coates, circa 1990, 170cm and smaller (height adjustable) Made for the Jigsaw Clothing Company, Knightsbridge, London, with sectional constructed torsos, these are some of the most striking design of mannequin ever made. Nigel Coates is an English architect, author, and prolific designer of interiors, exhibitions, products, and lighting. He grew up in the town of Malvern, Worcestershire and was educated at Hanley Castle Grammar School before studying at the University of Nottingham (1968-71) and the Architectural Association (1972-4). He formed Branson Coates Architecture with Doug Branson in 1985-2006.
Architectural: A rare Georgian carved sandstone panel of Izaac Walton, late 18th century, standing on the riverbank originally holding a fishing rod and net, 170cm high by 98cm wide By repute, this rare carved stone plaque is believed to have been set in the wall of a public house close to the home of Izaac Walton, who was an English writer, best known as the author of The Compleat Angler written in 1653, a pastoral discourse on the joys and stratagems of fishing that has been one of the most frequently reprinted books in English literature. He also wrote a number of short biographies that have been collected under the title of Walton’s Lives. After the restoration of the monarchy in 1660, one of Walton’s Royalist friends, George Morley, was made bishop of Winchester and offered Walton residence in the bishop’s palace, where he stayed for the rest of his life and it is from a public house in the area that this plaque is reputed to have come from. His final personal revision (the fifth edition) of The Compleat Angler appeared in 1676 and included additional material written by his friend Charles Cotton.

Good condition; unobtrusive top horizontal canvas addition or crease, hidden on the verso by the stretcher bar. Frame size: 22 7/8 x 30 1/2 in. (581 x 775 mm). Image size: 18 x 24 in. (457 x 610 mm). Klever studied at the Russian Academy of Arts in Saint Petersburg, informally known as the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, initially in an architectural class (1867-1868) and then in landscape (1868-1870) as a pupil of Vorobjev and Klodt. (Blackmer).Jean Claude Richard de Saint-Non went to Italy in 1759 and studied art and architecture in Rome where he met the artists Fragonard and Hubert-Robert, who were among those who contributed drawings for this work. He travelled to Naples with them in the spring of 1760, spending several weeks in Naples itself, as well as visiting Paestum, Pompeii and Herculaneum, where he drew copies of murals and antiquities. On his return to Paris in 1761 preparation of the plates was put in hand under the direction of Jean Benjamin de Laborde, co-author with Zurlauben of the equally monumental Tableau... de la Suisse. However the cost of such a lavish production ruined Saint-Non and hastened his death in 1791.The magnificent engraved plates include views of Naples and its environs, neighbouring towns, Vesuvius, churches, palaces and other buildings, catacombs, temples, tombs, grottos, ancient and Renaissance works of art, and many other architectural and scenic subjects, with the descriptive text by Dominique Vivant-Denon.Provenance: John Wordsworth (1805-1839) lassical scholar and priest, son of Bishop Christopher Wordsworth and nephew of the poet William Wordsworth (ink inscriptions to front endpapers).
