A GERMAN EMPIRE STYLE EBONISED AND GILT METAL OVAL MOUSTACHE MIRROR of architectural form with column beneath a triangular pediment, the oval mirror with gilt metal surround, the reverse with a circular plaque embossed with the conjoined portraits of Franz I, Alexander I and Friedrich William III, date in Roman numerals below 1813, 9.5" high.
JOHN WILLIAMS: AN EARLY 20TH CENTURY GILT METAL MANTEL CLOCK, the 4" dial with Arabic numerals, two train French movement striking on a coiled gong, in a fitted architectural case, standing on a giltwood plinth and housed under a glass dome, with urn garnitures, also standing on giltwood plinths and housed under glass domes
AN IMPORTANT EARLY GEORGE III GILTWOOD MIRROR in the manner of Thomas Johnson, with a divided shaped rectangular plate within mirrored borders, the elaborately carved frame with feathery leaves, scrolling acanthus, flowering branchwork, architectural balconies and pavilions, 95" high x 42.5" wide. Provenance: From the Collection of Edward Cecil Guinness, First Earl of Iveagh at Farmleigh, Castleknock, Co. Dublin. At Farmleigh the mirror is recorded as hanging in the main ground floor corridor. Farmleigh was sold by the Guinness family to the Irish Government in 1995. This magnificent rococo mirror is a tour de force, both in terms of scale and the execution of the design and carving. It relates to the published designs of Thomas Johnson and was almost certainly produced by one of the leading London cabinet makers during the 1760's. Elements of the carving may be compared to comparable pieces by Thomas Chippendale and John Linnell.
A late 19th/early 20th century Chinese canton ivory card case elaborately carved with four panels depicting figures amongst trees and in architectural landscape, 10.5 x 6.5cm, and a Continental marine ivory husk decorated ornament, diameter 2.5cm (2). CONDITION REPORT: General wear to card case, two hairlines to top narrower section, no apparent major damage or restoration. Ornament with numerous cracks and nibbles throughout with some small losses. We do not weigh ivory as this is to be sold on its value as an antique.
A Japanese Meiji period ivory miniature cabinet overall engraved and inked with figural interior scenes with ebonised edges, the pair of doors with phoenix shaped handle enclosing three similarly decorated drawers, bearing scratched four character signature to underneath, on fitted rectangular base with elaborately carved in relief architectural landscape to each side, 9 x 5.5 x 7.5cm excluding base (af). CONDITION REPORT: There are losses to the ebonised detail of the edges, the hinges of doors need attention and one needs reattaching, general surface dirt and wear commensurate with age both to the cabinet and base, chip to one of the base legs.
Four (4) `Vintage Art Nouveau Prints. Includes: Hedley Fitton etching, engraving after Annibal Carracci by F. Bartolozzi, and two Syracuse University architectural prints in one frame. Engraving has some wear to paper, toning to etching or else good condition. Largest frame measures 22-1/2" H x 16-3/4" W, smallest measures 22-1/2" H x 12-3/4" W.
