THE PROPERTY OF A GENTLEMAN A rare and fine chest lock, Spanish, 16th century wrought iron, the finely worked clasp with an angel within an architectural niche, with cut out tracery all over, the bolts in the form of Gothic pilasters on Solomonic columns, the lower corners with scallop shells, (possibly for St James of Compostella), lacking keyhole guard h.21cm., w.15.5cm. COMMEMORATIVE MEDALS, Italy, Vatican, Roman School, Bernini’s Baldachin at St. Peter’s, Baroque cast Bronze Medal, 1631, the four spiraling pillars supporting the canopy and four statues, rev legend in ten lines, 58mm. Reverse very fine, the obverse better with clear architectural details. The Baldachin which stands over the altar and thus the traditional tomb of St Peter, was the work of Giovanni Lorenzo Bernini (1598-1680), and was commissioned by Urban VIII when the sculptor was only 24 years old. Worked in bronze its spiral columns support a canopy and four statues, of St Helena (by Andrea Bolgi), St Longinus (by Bernini), St Andrew (by Francois Duquesnoy) and St Veronica (by Francesco Mochi). The Baldachin is also seen on the reverse of the annual medal of 1633/4, year 10.
A well engineered Stuart Turner model Williamson live steam vertical column barn engine, built by Mr V E Judd of Ickenham. This model by Tubal Cain is a replica of a vertical engine made in the last century by the Kendal firm of Williamson Brothers. The cylinder with 5/8in bore by 1 1/8in stroke, spoked flywheel, open crank and guides set in reeded column, eccentric operated steam valve, cast architectural pediment supporting display ball governor. The model is finished in red, blue and green paintwork. Height 254mm.
A George V oak cased mantel clock of architectural form, the German eight day movement striking on a single gong, the silvered dial with Arabic numerals with attached presentation plaque inscribed "Presented to J.Baker S.B.A by the S.B Staff.H.M.S Crescent 18th Mar 1918", height 39cm, with pendulum and key.

Amazon, after Jean-Jacques Feuchere, Shape 246, Minton, 1867, energetically modelled as the horse rears and the Amazon aims a spear (now lacking), impressed "Minton" and year cypher, 36cm high A similar example is illustrated in The Parian Phenomenon, A Survey of Victorian Parian Porcelain Statuary & Busts, edited by Paul Atterbury, published by Richard Dennis, fig.102, where it is described as exhibited by Minton at The Great Exhibition 1851 with its companion figure "Theseus". The group first appeared in a plaster version at the 1843 Paris Salon. Bronze versions are at Cleveland, Ohio and in The Louvre. In Jones (Joan) MINTON-The First Two Hundred Years of Design and Production Amazon is described as available in parian (spear extra), ivory and Persian multi-colours. It was also exhibited at The London Exhibition 1862. Jean-Jacques Feuchere (1807-1852). Born in Paris, studied under Cortot and Ramey, known principally for his architectural studies.

AN AESTHETIC PERIOD OAK SIDEBOARD by H. Ogden, Manchester, having a partially ebonised architectural back carved with scrolls and a central stylised flower head roundel, above nine panels painted with summer fruits and berries. The lower stage having a central cupboard section, two doors highly carved with geometric and floral motifs, recess below flanked by two frieze drawers and panelled cupboard doors, raised on block feet. 64cm x 173cm x 153cm high
a Regency period rosewood bracket clock by James McCabe the 8 day twin train fusee movement striking the hours and half hours on a bell, the enamelled convex dial with Roman chapters and strike/silent lever above maker's name painted in black lettering and serial no. 1337, the backplate similarly engraved James McCabe, Royal Exchange, London, the architectural case with foliate brass finial and chamfer-stepped pediment above sunken field spandrels inlaid with sprays of flowers in cut-brass, flanked by brass carrying handles and 'fishscale' side grilles, the skirted plinth raised on brass ball feet 28cm wide, 46cm high, 16cm deep james McCabe moved to London from Belfast in the latter part of the 18th century and is recorded at Royal Exchange in 1786. Nothwithstanding his successful career as a clock maker, McCabe also was commissioned to make a watch for Horatio Nelson.
