Patrick Scott HRHA, 1921-2014 DEVICE Aubusson Tapestry, by Tabard Freres et Soeurs, no.1858, 152cm (h) x 123cm (w), signed and inscribed label verso Pat Scott was a largely self-taught artist. He studied architecture and worked in the architectural practice of Michael Scott for fifteen years. Dorothy Walker noted in 1981 ' ... there is no doubt that his painting has a deeply architectural base; as a painter he has an architectural turn of mind, reflected in the structure and constructivist themes of his work, and in its intellectual discipline and order' Device is a series of works in which the artist registered his dismay at the testing of H-bombs by painting abstract 'explosions' of diffused and dripped colour to symbolise the terrifying beauty of such destruction. Rare Original Architectural Drawings, c. 1779 Architecture: Cooley (Thos.) Detailed Original Drawings and Specifications for the Building of a Bridge, at Headford, Co. Meath, 1779, including, * Working Plan of Bridge * Working Elevation of Bridge * Mouldings at Large for the Pedestals at end of Bridge and one other drawing. Each approx. 59cms x 72cms (23" x 28"), and all signed and dated by artist, a portfolio. As drawings, w.a.f. (4) * Thomas Cooley 1740 - 1784, was born in London, but came to Ireland in 1768, after winning a competition for the design of Dublin's Royal Exchange, now City Hall. He was also commissioned for numerous other important projects, including, St. Patrick's Cathedral 1769, Newgate Prison, Ardbraccan House, 1772 - 1775, Caledon, Co. Armagh, 1779, Bishop's Palace, Killaloe, 1774, The Four Courts, 1768 - 1802. He also began another public project in O'Connell Street, but on his death at the age of 44, in Dublin, the project was handed over to Gandon, who completed it, to his own design, as The Four Courts. Cooley also worked at Headford, Co. Meath, 1769 - 1771, and the above designs are from that period. The bridge is now I believe, part of the new Golf Course. (1)

Door key present but not functioning correctly, rear door glass is damaged
