Patrick Scott HRHA, 1921-2014 DEVICE Aubusson Tapestry, by Tabard Freres et Soeurs, no.1858, 152cm (h) x 123cm (w), signed and inscribed label verso Pat Scott was a largely self-taught artist. He studied architecture and worked in the architectural practice of Michael Scott for fifteen years. Dorothy Walker noted in 1981 ' ... there is no doubt that his painting has a deeply architectural base; as a painter he has an architectural turn of mind, reflected in the structure and constructivist themes of his work, and in its intellectual discipline and order' Device is a series of works in which the artist registered his dismay at the testing of H-bombs by painting abstract 'explosions' of diffused and dripped colour to symbolise the terrifying beauty of such destruction. Christian Stocklin, 1741 - 1795 Fine Italian Architectural View, "Interior of Palace Ruins with numerous figures," and its companion a similar subject, a pair, O.O.P., approx. 33cms x 43cms (13" x 17"), both signed, one with date 1769? and both inscribed on label reverse, later gilt frames. Early 19th Century English School Naval Crest: "Royal Coat of Arms," A stunning original oval oil painting on canvas, attractively painted in bright colours, highlighted in gold, with a gold crown surmounted by crowned lion overcoat of arms flanked by a large unicorn and a crowned lion, on an architectural plinth, labelled "ICH DIEN" and with naval scenes to right and left, with Prince of Wales plume, shamrocks, rose & thistle underneath, approx. 76cms x 62mcs, in narrow gilt frame. Rare Original Architectural Drawings, c. 1779 Architecture: Cooley (Thos.) Detailed Original Drawings and Specifications for the Building of a Bridge, at Headford, Co. Meath, 1779, including, * Working Plan of Bridge * Working Elevation of Bridge * Mouldings at Large for the Pedestals at end of Bridge and one other drawing. Each approx. 59cms x 72cms (23" x 28"), and all signed and dated by artist, a portfolio. As drawings, w.a.f. (4) * Thomas Cooley 1740 - 1784, was born in London, but came to Ireland in 1768, after winning a competition for the design of Dublin's Royal Exchange, now City Hall. He was also commissioned for numerous other important projects, including, St. Patrick's Cathedral 1769, Newgate Prison, Ardbraccan House, 1772 - 1775, Caledon, Co. Armagh, 1779, Bishop's Palace, Killaloe, 1774, The Four Courts, 1768 - 1802. He also began another public project in O'Connell Street, but on his death at the age of 44, in Dublin, the project was handed over to Gandon, who completed it, to his own design, as The Four Courts. Cooley also worked at Headford, Co. Meath, 1769 - 1771, and the above designs are from that period. The bridge is now I believe, part of the new Golf Course. (1)

To be erected over the gateway at the entrance to the Forth. December 3rd 1794. Drew at large by a scale of 2 feet to one Inch by Michael Nowlan. A large pen, ink & wash architectural drawing, approx. 40cms x 31cms (15 1/2" x 12 1/4"), somewhat stained, wooden frame. As a m/ss., w.a.f. V. Rare. (1)
William Brocas Sketchbook Brocas (William), 1794-1868. A very good Sketchbook, small quarto, over 80pp of fine sketches in pencil and crayons, made during a Continental Tour encompassing Antwerp, Paris, & other cities c. 1840 - 41, including sketch portraits, of interesting characters, landscape scenes, copies of famous paintings and items of architectural interest, many identified (some in French), including a number of very good drawings, some of frameable quality. Inscribed inside front cover 'W. Brocas' 119 Baggot St., Dublin. In a small 4to Artists Album, with ties, vellum backed boards. As an Album, w.a.f. V. Rare. (1)
An early 19th Century Chinese black lacquer and gilt heightened cabinet on stand:, the architectural interior fitted with small drawers and shelves with giltwood uprights and pierced fretwork aprons and galleries, decorated with bamboo and prunus trees and pagodas in garden landscapes, having a central scroll flanked by inscription panels and hanging lanterns, enclosed by a pair of doors further decorated with pagoda garden landscapes, the sides with applied brass carrying handles, the later stand with a pierced fret geometric apron on shaped legs, united by X-frame stretcher, terminating in claw and ball feet, the cabinet 99cm (3ft 3in) wide, 181.5cm (5ft 11 1/2in) overall height. *Provenance Rockbeare Manor, Exeter, Devon.
Punk head by Bernie Howden (30cm high) Bernie obtained his Fine Art Degree BA(Hons) at Wirral Met and had his graduation at Liverpool Anglican Cathedral. His work is mainly architectural. This piece was part of the theme on Iconic Buildings of Liverpool, it was part of a joint exhibition at The Domino Gallery, Upper Newington, Liverpool and was titled Monuments, this was in conjunction with his wife, Chrissie, who did historic stone monuments. Bernie now delves into portraits.

LUDWIG II OF BAVARIA: (1845-1886) King of Bavaria 1864-86. Called the Fairy Tale King for his extravagant artistic and architectural projects, he is also remembered as the devoted patron of the composer Richard Wagner. L.S., Ludovico, one page, 4to, Monaco, 19th January 1867, to Cardinal Clarelli, in Italian. The King sends his best wishes of prosperity to his correspondent on the occasion of the New Year festivities. A clean letter with a good signature example. With blank integral leaf. Early 19th century bracket clock with eight day fusee timepiece movement, white enamel dial with Roman numerals in a mahogany case of architectural form, with stepped top, on four pad feet, 34cm overall height (key and pendulum present) CONDITION REPORT General overall condition is fair, movement is dirty but appears to have been running, back plate may have been lacquered, has signs of previous repairs. Dial has been repaired between 5pm and 7pm position, enamel around winding hole damaged. Hands have been repainted, front door hinge loose. Case in reasonable condition, some splittng to veneers, top left moulding detached but present, near left foot detached but present. Door key present but not functioning correctly, rear door glass is damaged
