A Victorian gold and agate pencil, the central polished agate column within a pierced scrolling gold surround, to an agate endpiece carved with a monogram, the tip stamped with an M, 11cm long, 14.2g gross, in a fitted burgundy leather caseCondition Report: There is no noticeable damage to the pencil, originally it was thought that the pencil may have been shortened as the top doesn't sit as well to the barrel, but this appears to be from manufacture, it does fit the case very well, and the case appears to be original. There is staining to the case and the leather is flaking away to the outside. There is no marking indicating gold standard, however it is in our opinion 10 to 18 carat gold. The pencil mechanism is at the time of condition report still working, however there is not enough lead in the pencil for it to come out the tip. the lead is approximately 1mm diameter. There is no noticeable damage or losses or the decoration, there is some possible solder to one of the bands where the pencil body joins the tip, but it could be from manufacture. There is also a fine split near the tip, this could also be from manufacture. Some wear from use. Condition Report Disclaimer
