Music box; 19th century.Gilt bronze and gilt silver.Measurements: 4.5 x 3 cm.Music box in the shape of a stamp with a Louis XV coin motif, located on the base. This type of objects were very appreciated from the 19th century, with a great variety of models, factories, materials, etc., normally trying to hide the mechanism that moves them for a greater surprise in the spectator and often accompanied by a musical mechanism. However, they were always intended for the upper classes, since their construction and design required high quality and mastery due to the delicate machinery and materials chosen.

Offered from the collection of the eminent British football memorabilia collector Bryan Horsnell: The English penny used by Swiss referee Gottfried Dienst for the coin toss before the England v West Germany World Cup Final at Wembley Stadium 30th July 1966, copper alloy, the obverse bearing profile of HM Queen Elizabeth II and inscribed ELIZABETH II, DEI, GRATIA, REGINA, F:D, the reverse designed with Britannia and dated 1966, the coin applied with a sticky label and inscription in the hand of Bryan Horsnell USED BY REFEREE at 1966 WC FINAL; sold together with a FIFA Referee's cloth badge (2) Provenance: Acquired directly by the British collector Bryan Horsnell from referee Gottfried Dienst. Gottfried Dienst (1919-1998) was born in Basel, Switzerland. He is best remembered for refereeing the England v West Germany 1966 World Cup Final, but also refereed the European Cup Finals of 1961 and 1965, the 1965 FAIRS Cup Final and the drawn 1968 European Championship Final (but not the replay). Dienst had also refereed at the previous World Cup in Chile in 1962, taking charge of three matches including the Czechoslovakia v Yugoslavia semi-final. In 1966 the Swiss was also the man in the middle for the Italy v Chile Group stage match at Roker Park.
