A collection of silver; a Georgian snuff box, decorated with a wreath to top, hallmarked to lid and body, 1801. Egg cup, 1934 and a collection of pepper pots marked for Chester,Birmingham (2) and a decorative pair with blue liners for London. A spoon and salt, plus an ashtraymarked for 830 silver. A large glass bowl for salt or sugar, banded with silver to top (Georgian marks)and base (Victorian marks). A silver rimmed fruitwood bowl. An unmarked coin-set bowl, a heavymedallion-set bowl marked metal argente. Two salts with blue liners and a pair of large, heavilydecorated salt/pepper, all apparently unmarked. Weighable silver 12.5 troy oz. Condition; Snuff box by Thomas Phipps & Edward Robinson. Top opening only. Hinge and friction close OK. Scuff marks to base plus a very small knock and ding; a few small dings to lid. Egg cup, 1934Birmingham, appears to be a variant of S Blanckensee & Sons Ltd. Peppers, the pair are OK, the larger pepper good, the other two have small dings with a loose lid to one. The spoon and ashtray are worn-OK whilst the salt is heavily dented. The glass salt has a U shaped crack from bottom to top on one side but seems secure- possibly why the banding is of different periods. All else OK with some tarnish spots to one of the salts with the blue liners.
A group of twenty three small boxes, including a silver circular box with hinged lid, William Manton, Birmingham 1918, 8.2g, 3.4cm diameter, a silver pillbox in the form of a flower with jet stone to the centre, marked 925, 5.2g, 2.7cm diameter, a 19th century silver plated box with 1807 coin inset to the lid, 8.8 by 6.5 by 2.2cm high, an oval trench art box, likely for tobacco, 7.4 by 4.1 by 1.8cm high, a rectangular brass and agate snuff box 6 by 3.5 by 2cm high, an oval snuff box of similar design, 6.5 by 5.2 by 2cm high, and an Imperial Cachous cough drop tin. To include A Treatise on White Magic, A Treatise on the Seven Rays, Esoteric Healing etc etc. Various editions, several 1sts, mainly published by Lucius Press, New York and John Watkins, London. Some duplicate titles. Mainly 1930’s printings, a few in dustwrappers. [29]Alice Bailey was a British writer on Theosophical and Occult matters. One of the first to coin the phrase ‘New Age’. She claimed much of her writing had been telepathically dictated by a Master of Wisdom, known initially as ‘The Tibetan’. Her work is often compared with that of Madame Blavatsky. Condition report: Spine damage to the base of ‘Glamour, a World Problem’.Other titles have general wear appropriate to age.
