Group comprising: Victoria, bronze issue 1882 halfpenny with 'SUFFRAGE' stamped to reverse, pierced and linked to Victoria, bronze issue 1874 penny with 'july 4th 1896' engraved in two lines to reverse; Victoria, bronze issue 1888 penny with SUFFRAGE' stamped to reverse, pierced with suspension ring (probably onced linked to previous two) and smoothed bronze issue penny with 'VOTE THE LAND FREE' stamped in four lines one side and '4TH MAY 1843' stamped in three lines to the other side. 32.13 grams total. The coin stamped with the date 4th May 1843 may relate to the proclamation of Natal, South Africa, as a British colony on that date; the British women's suffrage movement became seriously active from the late 19th century and with the founding of the Women's Social and Political Union by Emmeline Pankhurst in 1903, with partial success being achieved in 1918.
