Lot 203

Elizabeth 1st 7th issue (1601/2) silver shilling mintmark 1 ' dented just in front of the queen's nose but a lovely rounded coin and the legend is delightfully sharp to the touch.

Lot 204

Five mixed grade Elizabeth 1 silver coins ' including a second issue shilling with a cross crosslet mintmark; a 1562 milled sixpence (slightly crimped in the crown); a 1571 hammered sixpence with creases; and a nice penny. The vendor believed the other coin was a threehalfpence.

Lot 205

James 1 silver halfcrown 1606/7. Decent strike and nice example of an uncommon coin. Mintmark Escallap.

Lot 209

A bronze coin weight 0.1625 for a Charles 1 20 shillings (Unite). See photo.

Lot 219

Three milled silver Charles 11 coins ' a 3d (about fine with some obvious wear to the high relief on both sides of the coin) and 4d (about vf, but note from photo the slightly irregular rim above left of the king's bust) dated 1679; and a 1684 sixpence in about very fine.

Lot 228

A 1698 gold William III Half Guinea ' the flan a bit flat above the bust so perhaps this coin has been sometime mounted - though no obvious sign.

Lot 230

Two William and Mary coins ' a shilling dated 1693 in good fine and a 1694 halfpenny (with uneven flan/damage to edge) and some verdigris on the reverse ' see photo). A good portrait on the copper coin but there is a dent behind the king's head

Lot 236

Two Queen Anne silver shillings dated 1711 (angles plain) and 1712 (roses and plumes), with the former about near fine/fine and the latter coin f/gf.

Lot 239

Three early Georgian silver halfcrowns ' a George 1 halfcrown (fine)/good fine (some edge knocks) SSC in angles, DECIMO on rim; a good fine G2 1739 coin with roses in angles, DVODECIMO; and a G21746 halfcrown, perhaps sometime cleaned, with LIMA below bust and D. Nono on rim.

Lot 244

George III 1793 gold Guinea and not one of the easier dates for a fifth laureate head coin.

Lot 249

A coin cabinet (first picture) with ten drawers (each capable of holding 24 coins) ' mainly emptied to make up the previous coins lots, but still containing approximately 68 coins in the top three trays. Tray one is mainly coins of the USA (second photo), with some from the British East India Company and India. The second tray is another of older foreign old coins, but mainly French (third photo). These trays contain coins in good collectable condition. Others are heavily worn or damaged. The coins in the first two trays come from the 20th, 19th and 18th centuries although there is a 1564 Philip IV of Spain coin included (see photos 4 and 5.) The coins in other trays include three cast (fake) ancient coins, a corroded hammered silver penny and another hammered coin; a worn, bent and discloured 1813 George III bank token; two coins which are holed/pierced - a William and Mary 1690 silver penny and an Anne 1706 threepence; and also a George I 1723 sixpence, which is bent. Other coins include a just about recognisable William 111 halfcrown, three Roman coins (one pictured) and a 1775 George III farthing, which is also bent. There are also two George III 1806 farthings ' one of which is Irish; and two Irish farthings dated 1723 and 1799. Photos 4 and 5 also show an 1830 half dollar from the USA from the top tray, the previously mentioned holed Anne 1706 threepence, a Roman coin and an 1812 penny token.
