Rare silver spoon with 1654 coin attached the spoon handle includes coin from the shipwreck, 'Vergulde Draeck', stamped 'STG SIL,' (length 19.5cm approx). The Dutch ship 'Vergulde Draeck,' ('Gilt Dragon,') struck a reef in 1656, and sank off the coast of West Australia near present day town of Geraldton, with the loss of 118 lives. The remains of the ship were finally discovered in April 1963.

Ca. 1300 AD. Rare Knight’s ring from the Holy Lands; Oval hoop with elaborately decorated shoulders; large round bezel with silver coin attached, depicting a holy cross. The custom of applying coins in jewelry was rarely practiced in this period so this ring is particularly interesting and custom made for the owner. Very good, wearable condition. 22mm (inner diameter). Provenance: From a London private collection, acquired on the UK art market in the 1970s.
