A George IV silver fiddle pattern caddy spoon by William Eaton, engraved throughout with flowers and with silver gilt scalloped bowl, London 1827, a George III silver caddy spoon by William Eaton, London 1800, four other George III and later silver caddy spoons together with an 18th century white metal caddy spoon, the bowl inset with George III coin (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Both of the William Eaton spoons in this lot are in good condition bearing clear hallmarks and makers marks. The fiddle pattern example with scalloped bowl retaining the vast majority of the gilding and the square bowl example being clean and with no obvious faults. Of the remaining spoons in this lot the example with circular floral bowl is in good overall condition and bears clear hallmarks and a makers mark EF. Whilst the example with crimpled rim circular pan again has clear hallmarks and a slightly indistinct makers mark which could be JW. The acorn example is slightly scuffed and worn but the hallmarks are clear. The makers mark appears to be ME ME repeated. The fourth of these hallmarked spoons has a slight crease to the terminal but is clearly hallmarked and bears a makers mark which appears to be TF. Finally the example with the coin inset to bowl is slightly scuffed and worn and the bowl is slightly misshapen. There are no hallmarks or makers to this spoon.
An unusual Indian white metal oval caddy spoon by Hamilton & Co Calcutta with coin handle, together with a Chinese white metal spoon. CONDITION REPORT: The oval spoon by Hamilton & Co Calcutta with coin mounted handle is slightly misshapen to edge and very slightly dented to tip of bowl. This spoon also has a worn a slightly dull overall finish. The Chinese spoon is in good overall condition and bears a rectangular character mark to the underside of the terminal.
Friedrich II., der Große Ein Schraubtaler voller Geschichte Historia in nuce, das ist Kleine Bilder von den großen Thaten Friederichs des Grossen Königes in Preussen in Dreyen Schlesischen Kriegen von Ao. 1740 bis 1763. Folge von gestochenem Porträt, Titel und 38 kleinen Kupferstichen in Rund nach G. Eichler von B. Hübner, überwiegend als Leporello montiert. In einer Schatulle in Form eines Silber-Schraubtalers von J. M. Mörikofer, Augsburg, J. Langenbucher 'Silber-Drexel' 1759. Durchmesser: 5 cm. - Sehr seltene vollständige Folge mit insgesamt 40 Papiermedaillons mit Szenen aus den Schlesischen Kriegen - In einem kunstvoll gearbeiteten Silber-Schraubtaler Hübsches Souvenir der militärischen Geschichte Friedrichs II. von Preußen. Die kleinen, beidseitig bebilderten und beschrifteten, mit Papierstreifen zu einem Leporello montierten Papier-Medaillons zeigen ein Brustporträt Friedrichs (umseitig mit dem gestochenen Titel) und eine Folge von Schlachtszenen, Stadtansichten, Karten und erläuterndem Text zu den drei Schlesischen Kriegen 1740-42, 1744-45 und 1756-63. Der kunstvoll gearbeitete Silber-Schraubtaler, der das gefaltete Leporello enthält, zeigt auf dem Deckel ein weiteres Porträt Friedrichs II. als drapiertes Harnischbrustbild mit Umschrift und Stechermonogramm 'I. M. M.', die Rückseite zeigt sitzende Klio und Saturn mit Umschrift, im Abschnitt unten mit Jahreszahl 1759 und Stechersignatur; Innendeckel und -boden des Schraubtalers mit montierter Landkarte von Schlesien bzw. Abkürzungsverzeichnis und Verlegeradresse. - Der in Frauenfeld geborene Stempelschneider und Siegelstecher Johann Melchior Mörikofer (1706-1761) war aufgrund seiner großen Fertigkeit zuletzt als Münzgraveur in Bern tätig. 'Von den Medaillen, mit denen er großen Beifall erntete, zählen durch ihre feine Ausführung zu den besten .. die Porträtmedaillen auf Friedrich II., den Großen, 1759' (Brun IV, 315). Dabei: Friedrich II., der Große, Les Matinées du Roi de Pruße. O. O. und Jahr (nach 1757). Mounted together as a leporello and contained in a round silver box (diameter 5 cm) with 2 of the engravings mounted inside the lid and bottom of the box; a so-called 'Schraubtaler' with the lid designed as a silver coin depticting a portrait of Frederik II. - In mint condition. - 1 addition.
