19th century Burmese enamelled coin brooch in brooch frame with pellet border, 37mm diameter CONDITION REPORT Enamel in very good condition, minor scratches but no chips. The reverse of the coin would appear to be gilded and evidence of a previous brooch fitting that has been soldered to the actual coin and subsequently removed prior to being set in the current brooch fitting which is detachable. The brooch fitting is hallmarked for Birmingham 1894. The silver pellets around the edge are damaged / squashed

Mitchiner JMT 1, 2231-2232 (same dies; flaws at R of ROM and P of CAPTA); see Neumann 32533-32535. This small series of anonymous 'Roman' jetons includes examples for Augustus, Vitellius and Domitian, in addition to this of Vespasian; they are all based loosely on original Roman coin issues. 5.14 grams. [No Reserve] Very fine.

Rev: SECVRITAS P R legend around, SC in exergue, emperor standing right before altar, extending his hand toward three soldiers carrying standards. Copying the Paduan coin Lawrence Cavino 23; Montigny 23; Cohen I, p. 254, Note 1; Klawans 2. Type invented by Cavino, this is a cast copy of a later date and omitting the distinctive dots at the end of the word POT and beneath the bust. 23.67 grams. [No Reserve] Very fine.
