20th century AD. A bronze figurine of a mouflon sheep on a rocky base, one foreleg resting on a large coin, a lingzhi fungus in the mouth and string of pendant coins; hollow to the underside. 530 grams, 15.5cm (6"). Private collection, West London, UK; acquired in the 1990s.[No Reserve] Fine condition.
17th-18th century AD. A mixed group of weights comprising: one square, flat-section apothecary's weight with four impressed annulets and a crown to each broad face; one a round coin weight with three fleurs-de-lis '1/2 / PISTOL / W'; a round trade weight with stamped sword (for London), crown and 'GR'. 12 grams total, 14-16mm (1/2 - 3/4"). 1180-1189 AD. Class 1c. Obv: facing bust with HENRICVS REX legend. Rev: voided short cross and quatrefoils with +RAVL.ON.LVNDE legend for the moneyer Raul at London mint. 3.03 grams. 286-287 AD. London mint, barbarous? Obv: IMI CARAVSIVS P F A legend with radiate bust right. Rev: PAX AVG legend with Pax standing holding olive branch and vertical spear; no marks in fields, mintmark (if any) off flan. 2.86 grams. See Sear 13648.The style of this coin, with the errors in the obverse legend, small flan and light weight suggest it might be a lcoal, barbarous copy. [No Reserve] Near very fine.
3rd century AD. 198-200 AD, Septimius Severus, military mint on the Danube border, 'limes' issue. Obv: L SEPT SEV AVG IMP XI PART MAX legend with laureate head right. Rev: AEQVITATI AVGG, Aequitas standing left, holding scales and cornucopia; Gordian III, imitative. Obv: IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG legend with laureate and draped bust right. Rev: IOVI PROPVGNTAORI legend with Jupiter walking right, hurling thunderbolt and holding eagle. 2.71, 2.24 grams. Limes version of RIC IV-i, 122c; Cohen 21; Sear 6259 variant (obverse legend)/unofficial dies. See Wildwinds.com (first coin"). The coin of Gordian III is likely the product of an ancient counterfeiter; the reverse type of Jove Propugnatori was not struck for Gordian III in any official Roman or Limes mint for any denomination and, in addition, there are two errors in the reverse legend, which is grammatically incorrect, instead of IOVI PROPVGNATORI or IOVIS PROPVGNATOR legends which had previously been used for Severus Alexander (but with Jupiter in a different attitude; see RIC 235-236 for IOVI PROPVGNATORI and RIC 240-241 for IOVIS PROPVGNATOR with Jupiter walking left, holding thunderbolt. [No Reserve] Good fine.
