William Forbes (American, 1798-1888) for Ball, Tompkins, & Black, United States. Coin silver handled basket, ca. 1839-1851. The handle and rim with an intertwining repousse decoration depicting cattails. With pierced decoration along the interior of the basket. Marked along the underside "Ball, Tompkins and Black, Successors Marquand and Co. New York" along with a maker's mark. Monogrammed along the handle.(Including handle) Height: 10 in x width: 10 1/2 in x depth: 13 in. Weight: 1,278.1 g.Condition: Light tarnishing and scratches throughout. There is a small dent along the pierced decoration of the basket. The handle functions well and moves smoothly on its hinges. There is a chance that one of the feet is bent as the feet do not sit flush.
