Victoria (1837-1901), Crown, 1845, young head left, rev. crowned shield within wreath, edge plain, (ESC. -, S.3882). Toned, good fine.Note: An intriguing coin in view of the plain edge. Even in it's present circulated state it seems unlikely that this was struck as a proof as there are no indications in the strike or surfaces that proof dies were used. The edge appears never to have been smoothed and the cataloguer can only conclude that it was struck with a plain edge in error, this being the case, a great rarity indeed
