AN EDWARDIAN NOVELTY SILVER BANK possibly by Cornelius Desormeaux Saunders and James Francis Hollings Shepherd, Birmingham 1903, modelled as a milk churn with twin handles and padlock, the hinged cover with coin slot and inscribed "Glady Fraser, 25th April 1900", 11cm high, 103gms, (the base with dent, the body dented in places) Condition Report: The body is dented diagonally next to the padlock & on the opposite side, the base is also dented in two places right next to each other, otherwise condition OK. . .

(3 of text and 3 of notes by Heinsius), engraved pictorial title and small illustration of a coin to vol.1 woodcut printer's devices, woodcut head-pieces and decorative initials, pictorial title trimmed at outer edge, affecting minor part of image and one number of date, some mostly light browning, some spotting and light staining, handsome 18th century dark blue morocco, gilt, covers with triple filet borders with floral corner-pieces, spines in compartments and richly gilt with floral and foliage tools, spines uniformly darkened, rubbed, g.e., 12mo (binding 135 x 79mm.), Amsterdam, Louis & Daniel Elzevier, 1661.⁂ Willems considers this edition 'beaucoup plus correcte' than that of 1629 edited by Daniel Heinsius, father of our editor. Provenance: John Brownlowe, Baron Charleville (engraved armorial bookplates).
