A trial piece produced by Paget for a 25 New Pence piece celebrating the Silver (25th) Wedding anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. The bust would not be used officially until 2017.Thomas Humphrey Paget OBE (1893-1974) was an extremely accomplished coin and medal designer and modeller. His works are many, well-used, well-liked, and include the bust of Edward VIII who famously abdicated the throne in 1936. Consequently, Paget is responsible for the bust of the most valuable British coin in existence: the Edward VIII Five Pounds Pattern Proof, an example of which sold for over €2.1 million in 2021.
