A small fourteen coin cabinet with brass corner fitments and a plaque inscribed 'These 14 coins were placed in a cavity in the corner stone of the Pawnbrokers Almhouses at Forest Gate laid by The Right Honourable The Lord Mayor Sir James Duke Bart M.P. on the 22nd Day of June 1849 and were taken out by the Treasurer A.J. Melhuish Esq. when the buildings were pulled down, Henry A. Attenborough'. Together with a covering letter relating to the subsequent sale of the coins signed by A.J. Melhuish and dated 13 January 1901. The cabinet measures approximately 24cm in length, 16cm in width and 6½ cm in depth (1 coin cabinet)
