WHITE STAR 18CT GOLD LADY'S BRACELET WATCH with manual wind movement, white dial, gold Arabic numerals and hands, c.1940's, case dia. approx. 12mm Provenance: This wrist watch is believed to have belonged to a crew member of the Titanic who was passed an 18ct gold pocket watch by Albert Caldwell, in order to secure a place on a lifeboat for himself, his wife and their infant son. Caldwell had initially been unable to secure tickets for the voyage and waited in the White Star Line offices in Southampton for a potential cancellation. He was then able to buy second class tickets for £29-00. After the sinking the family were picked up from their lifeboat by RMS Carpathia. The gold pocket watch was sold by Christie's in 1998, having been consigned by the neighbours of Elliott C Everett, the Titanic crew members son, after it was left to them by Everett's son. To be sold with a copy of a letter from Everett.
