ORIGINAL MARTIN HANNETT AMS DBX 15-80S - FIRST EVER DIGITAL DELAY - IDENTICAL TO THE ONE USED ON UNKNOWN PLEASURES AND CLOSER. Manufactured by Advanced Music Systems, Burnley, England and with "Martin Hannett Productions" label on the side. Includes copy of Martin Hannett's user manual."This is original. One of the first production AMS' pioneered and I believed was used by Martin extensively on UNKNOWN PLEASURES, CLOSER and MOVEMENT. He loved these things and owned three. Along with the MARSHALL TIME MODULATOR (Time waster as we called it) it helped him create the unique sound that became JOY DIVISION’S own. The first use of Digital Delay to great effect.... no pun intended. These are still collected and used today. Although keeping them working is a specialist art form in itself. They have a unique ‘ warm’ and ‘spatial’ sound."Additional comment added later by Hooky "There has now been a challenge to the provenance of this item as described in the original catalogue . It was purchased in 'good faith' a long time ago from Christopher Hewitt, Ozit Recordings as the machine used by Martin Hannett and Joy Division on the Unknown Pleasures and Closer LP's. Christopher Hewitt is now saying that whilst it is one of Martin Hannett's, it wasn't and isn't the one used in those recordings. I can only be honest about this challenge and re-iterate how disappointed I am at how it was sold to me."
