A lady's diamond set cocktail watch, the circular silvered dial with black Arabic numerals and blued steel hands, to a jewelled manual wind movement, the case with single-cut diamond set bezel and foliate scroll engraved sides, stamped 'PLATINUM', between baguette and single-cut diamond set shoulders, on a 9ct white gold snake-link bracelet hallmarked for Birmingham 1955, maker's mark B&S, total diamond weight approximately 0.40ct, case width 1.7cmLosses to finish on rim of dial, scuffs and nicks to remainder of dial surface. Scuffs, scratches and chips/nicks to case and bracelet. One of the shoulders has been solder repaired. Diamonds have slightly variable colour and clarity, some stones with small nicks/chips, but give an overall lively appearance. The snake bracelet is possibly later added and the clasp is currently functioning. The movement currently runs when wound but is untested for working order, which cannot be guaranteed. A stainless steel cased wristwatch by International Watch Company, the circular black dial with gilt Arabic quarters, baton markers and subsidiary seconds dial at 6, to a jewelled manual wind movement numbered 991664, the 'Disco Volante' case numbered 1015692, dial, movement and case signed, on a later unassociated strap, (one shoulder bar detached), case width 3.15cmBrownish spotting, scuffs and corrosion to dial. The dial has a patchy surface finish and may previously have been re-touched/re-painted in areas. The glass is loose and will require re-fitting, it has surface wear and may be a later replacement. The upper shoulder bar is detached from the case and it appears that this bar had previously been soft solder repaired in the same place, with solder residue at the junctions to the lug. The lower fixed shoulder bar is concealed by the strap but is currently in place. General surface wear, scuffs and nicks/chips to case and multiple shallow dings to case back and sides. The winder has surface wear, is currently functioning but is not signed. The movement currently runs intermittently when wound before stopping and working order has not been tested and cannot be guaranteed. The strap is a later unassociated replacement with surface wear.

WW2 Bristol Home Guard Notebook and Manual Grouping, all belonging to Corporal H G Edwards who served with the Bristol Home Guard. His notebook contains lists of ‘G’ sections men, addresses, rifle drill and notes on the use of the Lewis Gun. Accompanied by a varied mix of Home Guard and Home Front manuals and publications. An interesting grouping.
Great War Medal Trio Awarded to an officer in the Royal Naval Reserve, consisting of 1914-15 Star medal, British War medal and Victory medals, “LIEUT H.B. SPANTON R.N.R.” Lot also includes a copy of the book, C.B.415 ‘War Instructions for British Merchant Ships, August 1917’, copy number 7861. This being a manual covering a wide variety of subjects bound in a lead lined outer cover designed so that the book would sink if thrown overboard to stop it falling into enemy hands. Henry Broadley Spanton, born into a farming family on 9th January 1883 in the village of Nonington in Kent. In 1911 he is shown as a Mariner, 2nd Mate, still living on the family farm. He enrolled into the Royal Naval Reserve on 27th April 1915 for the duration of the war. Serving on ‘Ark Royal’ and ‘Empress’ he was demobilised on 2nd October 1919. Post war he seems to have moved back into the family trade and is shown as a farmer at Lenhall Farm, Bishopsbourne near Canterbury on the 1939 Register. Henry Broadley Spanton died on 3rd June 1947 at the Kent & Canterbury Hospital, Canterbury, Kent.
