1951 Bentley Mk. VI (Standard Steel Saloon) Transmission: manualMileage:100776The Mk. VI four-door standard steel sports saloon was the first post-war luxury car from Bentley. Announced in May 1946 and produced from 1946 to 1952, it was also the first car from Rolls-Royce with all-steel coachwork and the first complete car assembled and finished at their factory. These very expensive cars were a genuine success. These models had a shorter wheelbase chassis and the engine was a variant of the Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith of 1946 and, with the same standard steel body, became the cautiously introduced Silver Dawn of 1949. In 1952, both Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn and Bentley Mk. VI standard steel bodies were modified to incorporate a boot of about twice the size and the result became known as the R-Type Bentley. Mk. VI engines and chassis were modified to provide higher performance and sold to be bodied by selected coachbuilders as the first Bentley Continentals. This lovely example of this pretty model is presented in black over silver with a grey leather interior. It comes with its original handbook, V5C registration document and a folder containing many old invoices. The grey leather seats show a nice patina and the wood to the dashboard and doors are in nice condition. This stylish Bentley Mk. VI would look very at home at Royal Ascot, Goodwood or other similar events but most of all, it will bring a smile to your face when driving it and attract admiring glances wherever you are.
1986 Ford Escort RS Turbo Transmission: manualMileage:74763The Ford Escort RS Turbo was based on the three-door Ford Escort saloon and was supplied in a Diamond White body colour only. The engine fitted to the RS Turbo was a 1600cc CVH unit modified to suit the higher loads and the application of a turbocharger. Computerised fuel injection and engine management incorporating turbocharger boost control were also fitted. Aesthetically, the RS Turbo was given a distinctive sporty appearance with a body coloured front grille, bumpers and aerodynamic aids. On the tailgate, an XR3i spoiler (also body coloured) was fitted together with 'RS Turbo' decals. The interior was trimmed in a combination of Monza and Cashmere fabrics and XR3i-type Recaro LS bucket seats were fitted as standard. Production was limited to only 5,000 examples and many were modified in period for racing.Originally registered on 13th January 1986 this delightful RS Turbo has been restored of which there is photographic evidence in the history folder. The car comes supplied with the original service books and a collection of invoices. The very knowledgeable and fastidious vendor has ensured the quality of this Ford has been maintained, having recently fitted a new turbo, new brakes and new front suspension. We are advised also that a new clutch has been fitted and there is a slight amount of clutch judder when pulling away in 1st gear. Prior to auction the car will have a fresh MoT and a V5 document is present in the documentation. This is a genuine opportunity to purchase every 80's schoolboy's dream car and a rare treat to find one in such fine condition.
2002 BMW M3 Transmission: manualMileage:39665The BMW M3 is one of the most iconic sports cars of all time. The vehicle first entered production in 1986 and quickly became known for its high performance and excellent driving dynamics. The E46 generation of M3s was produced from 2000 to 2006 and was the third generation of the M3. The E46 generation was powered by the legendary S54 3.2 litre inline six-cylinder engine, which produced 343bhp and could boast a redline of 8000rpm. This power was sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission, or the optional SMG semi automatic. The E46 M3 was also equipped with several performance features, including a limited-slip differential, a variable-length intake manifold, larger brakes and improved suspension. The E46 M3 was praised for its handling and power, and it is still considered to be one of the best M3's ever made. This particular example is fitted with the sought-after six-speed manual transmission and has been in the care of our vendor since 2004, meaning it has only had a total of two keepers throughout its whole life. The mileage is remarkably low too, still sitting beneath 40,000 miles, making it one of the perfect examples to either use every day, or tuck away as a longer-term investment. The car does have a small scuff on the near side corner of both the front and rear bumpers, but these should be quite easy to rectify. Given the exceptionally low mileage, the interior also presents wonderfully, with only minor wear on the gear knob and some light wear on the drivers seat bolster. The service history is equally impressive, with all routine services having been carried out by BMW main dealers. The car comes to the sale with a fresh oil service, so it is ready for the lucky new owner to enjoy straight away. The VANOS system was also rebuilt in 2019, with the car having covered just over 4,000 miles since.
1995 BMW M3 Coupé (E36) Transmission: automaticMileage:67000Hagerty describes this specific model as 'The BMW that cemented the winning formula for the M3' with the E36 replacing the E30 in 1995. The US Spec M3 doesn't have the full fat M3 engine and Hagerty says 'I'm here to say that's a good thing'. If you look back through history, no repairs bills, the US spec M3 'is the one to have'. A civilised high performance road car that dramatically outperforms any other 3 series. Oh! and the cylinder head comes from none other than a McLaren F1 racing car. Performance is only down by one to two tenths of a second on the 'full fat' M3 to 60 mph. The E36 has won numerous accolades spanning 15 years with the best car magazines in the world. Under the bonnet, the E36 M3 is powered by a 3.0 litre inline-six engine, producing 240 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque. It is equipped with a five-speed manual gearbox as standard, with an optional six-speed manual gearbox available on later models or an automatic option. No snap oversteer here, which is a BMW handling feature. This early, left hand drive 1995 BMW E36 M3 Coupé is fitted with the rare automatic gearbox and privacy glass, was imported from Japan in March 2022 and is supplied with a good Japanese service history. Recent work carried out in the UK includes a service, refreshed brake calipers with upgraded Brembo pads, HID light upgrade, new Toyo Proxes tyres, a new MoT test certificate which expires in March 2024 and a new Pioneer Apple head unit. Finished in black with black leather interior with M Sport decals, this M3 is supplied with a V5C registration document and a file containing the Japanese service history and a photographic record of restoration works undertaken. The BMW E36 M3 Coupé is an impressive sports car that offers exceptional performance and a stylish design. This example is 9/10 on every aspect, the gearbox is silky smooth, handling is sublime and performance is progressively rapid and on demand. This is a car you will want in your collection and no list of work needing to be done.
1967 Jaguar Jaguar Mk.II (3.4 litre) Transmission: manualMileage:2339The lineage of the Mk. II can be directly traced back to its predecessor, the 2.4 saloon or Mk. I as it would be retrospectively known in later years. Traditional Jaguar buyers would not feel alienated by the new offering from Coventry however, as the interior was up to their usual standards with leather and walnut being the order of the day. With 112bhp available, the 2.4 was not overly burdened with pace, so Jaguar's response was to come in the shape of a 3.4 litre version which was launched in 1957. As a result, 120mph was a genuinely achievable pace, necessitating the introduction of disc brakes a year later to keep speeds in check. Rather than introduce a completely brand new car, Jaguar successfully re-designed the car from stem to stern, and the Mk. II was born, debuting in 1959. The chunky windscreen pillars of the early car were replaced by slimmer offerings giving a much airier cabin which both improved the styling and freshened up the design for the new decade. This British Racing Green Jaguar Mk. II 3.4 litre manual gearbox example is one of the best older restorations we have had the pleasure to view. There is a full photographic record of the nut and bolt restoration which was undertaken in the mid 90's by the then Jaguar enthusiast owner. A restoration which, today, although showing a wonderful patina, has resulted in a fantastic example with good door shuts, paintwork and we are told drives very well. Supported by a Jaguar Heritage Certificate, the paperwork documents the expensive restoration of the car which began in 1989 and was still being fettled to a finish in 1998. This manual with overdrive British sports car and it's 3.4 litre engine provides brisk performance and can be enjoyed all whilst sat in a cabin that has been extremely well restored but with leather that shows a beautiful patina. This really is a car that provides that classic feel with the confidence of a restored example and one that has covered a mere 2,339 miles since.Interested parties should note that this vehicle is not currently sold with a V5 registration document. However, one has been applied for by the vendor with the DVLA and should arrive in due course.
1986 Ford Sierra RS Cosworth Transmission: manualMileage:73900The Ford Sierra RS Cosworth is a performance-oriented version of the Sierra family car produced by Ford Europe in the mid-1980s. The car was developed by Ford's motorsport division, which aimed to create a high-performance vehicle that could compete in rallies and racing. The Sierra RS Cosworth was equipped with a 2.0 litre turbocharged engine that produced 204 horsepower and 214 lb-ft of torque, making it one of the fastest cars of its time. The car was fitted with a limited-slip differential, which helped to improve its handling and traction on both road and track. The exterior of the Sierra RS Cosworth was designed with aerodynamics in mind, featuring a distinctive front grille, a large rear spoiler, and wider wheel arches to accommodate its wider track. Inside, the car was fitted with Recaro bucket seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, as well as a range of gauges and dials to monitor the car's performance. The Sierra RS Cosworth proved to be a successful rally car, winning several championships and races throughout the 1980s and 1990's.This excellent and very original 1986 Ford Sierra RS Cosworth was purchased by the current owner in 2014 when the car had only covered 72,500 miles and put into his private collection. While in his ownership he has only driven 1,400 miles. He has also had the wheels refurbished and the Recaro seats renovated shortly after he acquired the car. Finished in the classic Ford colour scheme of Moonstone Blue paintwork with grey cloth interior, this lovely example is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in October 2023 and a file containing old MoT test certificates and invoices. Today, it remains a popular choice amongst car enthusiasts and collectors, thanks to its striking design, impressive performance and rich motorsport heritage.
1950 Riley RMB (2.5 litre) Transmission: manualMileage:45292The Monte Carlo rally must surely represent the golden age of intercontinental motor sport. Not only did it host a whole range of teams that took part but the conditions varied enormously from hot coastal weather to driving snow in the mountains. The Riley RMB was a useful tool for the job as it combines fixedhead motoring and powerful 2.5 litre engine. The 'Big-Four' as it was known, with twin camshafts mounted high at the sides of the cylinder block, hemispherical combustion chambers and twin SU carbs meant that the engine was rated at 100bhp giving the big saloon a top speed of just shy of the magic ton. This extremely well-presented RMB was bought new by Arthur Bassett of Swansea in October 1950 with the express intention of competing in the following year's RAC Monte Carlo Rally, as shown in press cuttings on file. It duly did, finishing a creditable 236 out of 342 or 54% up the field. It also maintains a number of special features built specifically for the race including locking fuel caps, a secret compartment in the rear seat divider and steel shackles on the jacking points which were used to strap the car down securely on its voyage across the Channel. It also benefits from an extremely rare factory fitted sunroof and is thought to be one of only six RMBs thus equipped. After successfully completing the rally, the car passed through several more local owners as detailed in the original buff logbook before the current owner. Although the engine had been rebuilt some time ago, the rest of the car had not, so a full restoration, which took almost four years to complete, was undertaken. As can be seen, the work was done to a high standard and the car looks wonderful today with excellent paintwork and, great brightwork and gorgeous red leather interior as shown with limited use whilst also retaining much of its original patina. The underside looks equally good and the car is fitted with a stainless exhaust and full one year MoT test certificate. The car became a regular on the Welsh show circuit and reportedly won so many prizes that the vendor eventually became too embarrassed to enter it. He states that the car has always proved totally reliable during his long ownership and has always driven exceptionally well tackling long journeys with ease €“ as you might expect from a seasoned Monte Carlo rally car!
1997 Mini 1997 Mini Cooper 35 Limited Edition Transmission: manualMileage:65360The launch of the original Mini in 1959 created a sensation. The compact design and innovation was a real masterpiece of engineering and provided a spacious interior and exceptional roadholding. Fast forward a few years and the space in the market for a performance related version was noticed and gave birth to the Mini Cooper. This new model featured a more powerful engine and improved handling. It became an immediate success and went on to achieve greatness. Fast forward 35 years, and the Rover group thought it would be a good idea to celebrate this little motoring icon, and the Mini Cooper 35 was born. The immediate interest was encouraging and when it was announced that it would be limited to a production run of 200 units for the UK, and 200 for Japan, the response was amazing. All 200 were finished in Almond Green with a white roof and luxurious porcelain green leather with a dashboard finished in walnut. Powered by a 1275cc fuel injected engine mated to a 4 speed manual gearbox. This example presents in outstanding condition. The paintwork is in good order and the leather, woodwork and carpets are unmarked. It is clear to see that this car has been cherished by its owner over the last 10 years. We are also informed that this Mini is a joy to drive. Presented to auction with a V5c registration document and an MoT test certificate valid until October 2023 this rare and desirable Mini is offered without reserve.
1956 Jaguar Mk. I Transmission: manualMileage:21652Launched in 1955, the Mk. I extended Jaguar's domination of the high-performance car market in Britain, slotting neatly into the Coventry firm's range alongside the big Mk. VII M saloon and the XK140 sports car. The medium size newcomer broke new ground for Jaguar, being its first model to employ unitary construction of the chassis/body. Jaguar's engineers were understandably cautious in their approach, making the bodyshell stronger than in fact it needed to be and employing rubber mountings just about everywhere to insulate occupants from vibration and noise. The Mk. I was released with a new, short stroke, 2.4 litre version of the proven XK 'six', but demands for more power, especially from American customers, prompted the introduction of the 3.4 litre version early in 1957. With 190bhp on tap the 3.4 litre Mk. I was good for a top speed of 120mph and could reach 60mph in nine seconds, though if used to the full, this greatly improved performance severely taxed the drum brakes. All-round disc brakes were hurriedly announced as an option, becoming an almost universal fitting thereafter. The Mk. I was progressively updated throughout its life before a wholesale revision of the basic design saw it re-launched as the Mk. II in October 1959.Originally registered on 12th June 1956 this example is presented in black with red leather interior and is formerly the property of motoring journalist John Deverall. A significant amount of work has been carried out on this Jaguar over the years including new sills, jacking points and front floor. Most of the brightwork has been re-chromed by Silva Bronz Ltd in Hampshire and the headlining has been replaced as have the carpets and door cards. The wood within the car, of which there is plenty, presents well. A stainless-steel exhaust system has been fitted and this 2.4 litre Jaguar sits on a set of Michelin tyres. We are advised the brakes are operational although not particularly convincing and may require some attention. Supplied with a V5C registration document, together with the original buff logbook together with a collection of invoices and receipts. These beautifully sculptured Jaguars are becoming increasingly collectable.
2014 Fiat 500 Lounge Transmission: manualMileage:33598The Fiat 500 is a rear-engined, small city car that was manufactured and marketed from 1957. Some 50 years later, Fiat previewed an all-new three-door hatchback 500 model in March 2007. The design of the 2007 Fiat 500 is based on the 2004 Trepiúno concept car. The new model features distinctive retro styling, following the pattern of the Volkswagen Beetle and BMW Mini, as modern re-interpretation of Dante Giacosa's 1957 original Fiat 500. Production started in mid-2007 in Fiat facilities in Tychy, Poland. Numerous trim equipment and performance versions are offered.Originally registered on 8th August 2014 this Fiat 500 Lounge presents in beautiful condition. The white coachwork is virtually unmarked as is the two-tone interior. These are deceptively spacious cars and the sunroof further enhances the roominess feel to the interior. The aesthetics of the Fiat 500 is certainly pleasing and they are certainly nice to drive with good ergonomics. This car was subject to a category S insurance claim in 2018 and has been professionally repaired. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 14th November 2023 together with the original handbooks. Benefiting from cheap road tax (£31.50 per year) this 1242cc Fiat will also be inexpensive to insure and offers very good fuel consumption. The modest mileage of 33,598 is confirmed by the MoT history. A great fun car for a very modest outlay.Guide £4,000-£5,500
2006 Porsche Chamonix 550 Spyder by Beck Transmission: manualMileage:2904The Porsche 550 Spyder was one of Porsche's first dedicated racing cars (since the 356 was first and foremost a streetcar). The 550 Spyder removed all doubt about what the small new German sports car company was all about. The success of the 550 in competition included a win at the 1956 Targa Florio which proved that the new company, which was just five years old when the 550 first appeared, was serious about motorsport. If that wasn't enough, it was catapulted to stardom when James Dean died at the wheel of his own 550 Spyder in September 1955. Consequently, the 550 is often replicated, and as is often the case, the quality varies widely from manufacturer to manufacturer. The Chamonix Car Company started in 1980 by producing replicas for the Super 90, Speedster 356 and the Spyder 550. The brand was built on quality and competitive pricing, with the business starting to experience significant growth from 1985. When this car arrived in the UK, the very fastidious vendor was not happy with some of the quality and invested significant time and money in having several areas rebuilt, together with a number of upgrades. These included the fitting of a sports exhaust, special mirrors, aluminium pedals and switchgear and a Mota-Lita steering wheel. This super stylish exceptional recreation is finished in the colours of the James Dean car and with originals currently fetching well into several millions, this 550 represents superb value, especially given the estimate, condition and low mileage. With spring fast approaching this open top car is a real headturner.
1995 Porsche 911 / 993 Carrera 2 Transmission: manualMileage:109384The 993 generation of the Porsche 911 was the final iteration of more than 30 years of development on the iconic air-cooled flat-six engine, for which the 911 is so famous. The 993 drove just as well as it looked, being the first 911 with a modern multi-link rear suspension and a six-speed manual gearbox as standard. With these features, the 993 was able to reach 0-60mph times of around five seconds, and a top speed of around 170mph. The 993 was known for its unique style and design. It featured all-new headlights that were integrated into the body, giving it a more modern look. It also featured a curved windshield and a redesigned rear spoiler, which improved both aerodynamics and aesthetics. This particular example is described by aficionados as the one to have; a manual gearbox, Carrera 2, coupé. The car is presented in Polar Silver with a dark blue leather interior, a classy combination for a Porsche. The car was fully resprayed in 2015, costing £5,500. The interior presents well, with some room for improvement. Quite impressively, this 911 has only had two true owners from new and has been in our vendors family since 1997, with the third owner being the second owner's son, who has the job of finding the car a new home. The car was fitted with a new clutch in 2017. At the time, the engine was removed, the rocker covers were replaced, as were the spark plugs and leads. In 2019, the car was treated to new front and rear brake discs and pads, as well as a reconditioned steering rack. The car was given an oil and filter change in February 2023. The Porsche factory option sticker is still present under the bonnet, showing option codes 033 (lowered suspension), 373 & 374 (Electric sport seats), 398 (17€ wheels), 425 (rear wiper), 567 (top tinted windscreen) and 650 (sunroof). With values of 993's rapidly increasing over the past few years, it has become hard to find a sensibly priced manual Carrera 2. This car provides the opportunity to buy into the world of air-cooled Porsche ownership during the 75th anniversary year for Porsche and the 60th anniversary year of the 911, at a great price point compared to those on the open market.
1983 Austin Metro Vanden Plas Transmission: manualMileage:19750The Metro is a supermini car, later, a city car that was produced by British Leyland and later, the Rover Group from 1980 to 1998. It was launched in 1980 as the Austin Mini Metro. It was intended to complement and eventually replace the Mini and was developed under the codename LC8. The Metro was named by What Car magazine as 'Car of The Year' 1983 as an MG, and again as the Rover Metro in 1991. During its 18-year lifespan the Metro wore many names; Austin Metro, MG Metro and Rover Metro. It was rebadged as the Rover 100 series in December 1994.First registered on 3rd March 1983 and having just celebrated its 40th birthday, this incredible time warp example has covered a mere 19,750 miles from new. Having been part of the James Hull collection, our vendor purchased the car due to the unique nature of the Vanden Plas specification which brought a plush luxury finish to what is usually a basic small family hatchback, much like the Radford minis. The 'Raschelle' woven velvet upholstery is in incredible condition and all plastics are unsurprisingly as new, the car on the whole feels every bit of its low mileage and collector status. Powered by the 'A' series 1275cc 60bhp engine with a four-speed all-synchromesh manual gearbox, this example is a real delight and no slouch either!Guide Price £5,000 - £7,000
1968 Triumph TR5 Transmission: manualMileage:70528The TR5 was built for a 13-month period between August 1967 and September 1968 in Coventry. Visually identical to the Michelotti styled TR4, the TR5 hid the main differences under the body. The most significant change was the 2.5 litre straight-six fuel-injected engine developing around 150bhp and which was carried forward to the TR6. At the time, fuel injection was uncommon in road cars. Triumph claimed in their sales brochure that it was the 'first British production sports car with petrol fuel injection'. This engine could propel the TR5 from 0-50mph in just 6.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 125mph. Standard equipment included front disc brakes, independent rear suspension, rack and pinion steering and a four-speed gearbox. This absolutely superb example of this extremely sought-after model is presented in Old English White with a blue interior which matches the hood and there were only 1161 built of which allegedly only half survive today. The present owner is the fourth since new and has spent circa £23,000 on the car whilst in his ownership. This work has included a complete bare metal panel re-spray, new interior and dashboard. The dark blue hood is in 'as new condition' and the gleaming Old English White paintwork looks superb with no imperfections. The engine runs smoothly and sounds evocative, as these six-cylinder 2,500 litre engines should! The car comes with a fantastic and comprehensive history file which includes its original buff logbook and many invoices showing work which has been carried out over the decades and it also comes with a MoT test certificate which expires in March 2024. The car also has a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate which confirms the Triumph's original colour as being white and also confirms it as a U.K. car with matching numbers and there is documentation which verifies the current mileage as being correct. The current owner has had the car maintained by professional specialists whilst in his ownership. This TR5 is truly fabulous and is in near concours condition in our opinion.
1992 Rover Mini Cooper Transmission: manualMileage:53701John Cooper was well known for his involvement, along with his father Charles, in developing the post-war, rear engine, single seater 500cc race cars that ran amok and beat the larger front engine cars of the period. John was also later renowned for his development of the iconic Mini with the Mini Coopers cleaning up in high profile race and rally events in the 1960s and beyond. This stunning extensively restored Rover Mini Cooper is offered from private ownership with just over 53,000 miles from new. The car is presented in Storm Grey with contrasting black and red trim with optional sunroof. The accompanying history file is equally as impressive showing no breaks in the lifespan of this little Cooper and includes every MoT test certificate from new and the original sale receipt along with the original book packs. Having been garaged since its full restoration, this example is offered with an MoT test certificate valid until 13th December. This is truly a stunning example suitable to use as a daily driver or investment.
1986 Ford Escort RS Turbo Series I Transmission: manualMileage:67001The Ford Escort RS Turbo was based on the three-door Ford Escort saloon and was supplied in a Diamond White body colour only. The engine fitted to the RS Turbo was a 1600 CVH unit modified to suit the higher loads and the application of a turbocharger. Production was limited to only 5,000 examples and many were modified in period for racing.Finished in the well-known rally Diamond White with appropriate decals, this example of the 80's poster fast Ford, Series I RS Turbo is in stunning and original largely unmolested condition and has covered a mere 67,000 miles from new. The original Recaro velour interior is in fabulous condition throughout as are the original plastics, all showing minimal wear and the right degree of patina for the car and its age. In the engine bay the car can be found to be clean and standard but for minor upgrades such as coilover suspension and uprated HT leads but as a car that has been shown at local Ford events the owner is proud of its originality and standard. The original wheels are with the car although currently sitting on later RS alloy wheels. Presented with an MoT test certificate valid until June and history file including details of recent servicing and maintenance. Nothing sets the pulses racing like the working man's hero car with that whirring turbo coupled to the original CVH engine.Interested parties should note this vehicle is now on its original wheels and not those photographed in the catalogue.
1978 Jaguar SS100 by Suffolk Transmission: manualMileage:3446Regarded as one of the rarest and most elegant of pre-war designs, the Jaguar SS100 was entitled to reflect its ability to reach 100mph and the model's combination of style and performance undoubtedly set the course for the company's future successes. With a total of just 314 original examples produced between 1936 and 1939, the SS100 is also one of the rarest with only 198 of the 2.5 litre and 116 of the 3.5 litre models being manufactured, most staying in the U.K. and, like its later C and D-Type siblings, generally considered to be one of the most aesthetically pleasing Jaguar cars ever built, with values of original cars continuing to rise steadily and remain beyond the reach of many enthusiasts. Although a fine touring car, the SS100 was marketed primarily for competition work. Its first major success came early, if somewhat unexpectedly, when Tommy Wisdom, crewed by his wife, won the arduous Internationale Alpine Trial in 1936, beating Bugatti, and bringing the fledgling marque to the attention of the continental public. This would be the first of many successful racing forays, including class wins in the RAC events of 1937 and 1938. Jaguar used a new Weslake-developed, overhead-valve engine in a shortened SS1 chassis. The introduction of the OHV unit was considered to justify the adoption of a new name for the series. SS Cars boss William Lyons later recalling, €œI immediately pounced on Jaguar as it had an exciting sound to me€ and was adopted as the marque name in 1943. With such iconic branding as the Jaguar SS100, it was inevitable that companies would seek to produce recreations. The best quality and highest regarded of these recreations were offered by Suffolk Sports Cars with close to 200 cars being built to date. They are widely considered as having set the benchmark for others to follow. Utilising an original SS100 to ensure exact and correct dimensions were achieved for the chassis, GRP moulds were taken from the original car to ensure that scale and tolerances were as accurate and close to the original as possible. The vendor purchased this example from a retired engineer who built this car between 2016 and 2017 from parts supplied by Suffolk Sports Cars as a project. The detailed and extensive list of parts and directions are enclosed within the history file. Needless to say, the body is an exact copy of an original 1938 SS100 with a steel internal frame making it very strong. The bonnet is aluminium replicating the original, with all-correct 200 louvres. A large number of parts are indeed identical to the original and will actually fit original cars as all parts are either new or reconditioned. The wooden flooring has been epoxy coated for durability and doubling pieces added as appropriate. Stainless steel fastenings have been used for durability and all wood mounted on the chassis rails utilise rubber gasket strips. The engine is a 4.2 litre Jaguar XJ6 unit and was reconditioned by Ivor Searle Ltd and connected to a lightened flywheel. It has a stainless steel tubular exhaust manifold together with the rest of the system. Carburettors are reconditioned 2€ SUs and electronic ignition is by a Powerspark distributor. The reconditioned four-speed gearbox has a rebuilt Laycock overdrive unit working on top gear with improvements made also to include softer front springs, quieter silencers and additional fuses for reliability. There are additional driving lights fitted which are wired to come on with main beam (via a relay), controlled via a selection switch on the dash and the fuel gauge has been electronically matched to the tank unit to improve gauge accuracy. The headlights are replica Lucas Q596s and matching replica 'owls-eye' rear lamps can be found to the rear. There is a tonneau cover, hood and side screens in black mohair together with a cover to conceal the folded hood together with a lockable rear compartment with a lift-out lid. There is an extensive build file, book and DVD of the photographic build history. It also comes with all old MoTs plus a new 12 month MoT test certificate, various invoices, Suffolk build manual (with additional notes), an XJ6 manual and a large file of specifications. This represents a beautifully put together Jaguar, striking in Phthalo Blue with a tan interior and wire wheels. Difficult to distinguish it from the real thing!
1969 Austin Mini Cooper S Mk. II Transmission: manualMileage:70210The Austin Mini Cooper S Mk. II is a legendary car, which was first introduced in 1967. The Mini Cooper S Mk. II is known for its unique design, handling, and impressive performance on the road. The car was equipped with a 1275cc engine, which produced 76 bhp, which may not sound like much by modern standards, but at the time, it was considered to be quite powerful for a car of its size. The Cooper S Mk. II was also quite a rare car with only 1,479 destined for the home market and far fewer remaining. The Austin Mini Cooper S Mk. II had a distinctive look that set it apart from other cars of its time. The car's handling was also exceptional, thanks to its front-wheel drive and nimble suspension system, making it a popular choice for racing enthusiasts. Overall, the Austin Mini Cooper S Mk. II was a car that was ahead of its time, offering impressive performance, exceptional handling, and a distinctive design that still looks great today. It has become a classic car, which is highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts alike. This particular example was built on 12th November 1969 as a UK right hand drive example, but spent a large proportion of its life in Greece, returning to the UK in 2014. The car comes with a British Motor Industry Heritage Certificate and an FIA car pass for a 2013 classic regularity rally in Greece, believed to have been the Historic Acropolis Rally. The car is now a lovely example of a fast road style Cooper S, with magnesium Minilite alloy wheels, bolt in half roll cage, Lucas spotlights and rally timing equipment. The car now presents superbly throughout and is ready to be enjoyed right away.
1988 Land Rover Defender 110 Transmission: manualMileage:20The original Land Rover Series began production in Solihull in 1948 and until its decades-long production run ended in 2016, more than two million Defenders were produced, becoming a British automotive icon. Since production ceased, the revered model has been in increased demand from both collectors and those willing to use this tough, utilitarian vehicle in the way it was designed for. It was only in 1989, following the introduction of the all-new Land Rover Discovery, that the Defender received its own name. This was not only a marketing exercise; the new Defender received a raft of upgrades, along with a new turbo diesel engine, which brought useful increases in power, torque, and fuel economy when compared with the old, normally aspirated diesel it was based on. Often boasting large 'Defender' logos, the Land Rover went through a continuous process of development, gaining disc brakes and power-assisted steering as standard during the 1990s, together with a host of other improvements.Originally registered on 1st August 1988 this is no ordinary Land Rover. This Defender has had a nut and bolt restoration in every sense of the word. Restomod is probably the best way to describe this Double cab pick-up as it has been restored to a magnificent standard and has had a few modifications carried out along the way. After purchasing the vehicle, the vendor stripped it back to nothing, this involved removing the body, engine, gearbox and axles. The chassis showed signs of corrosion so a new galvanised one was fitted, a new bulkhead was fitted at the same time. The engine was rebuilt by respected V8 engine rebuilder John Eales, the capacity was increased to 4.6 litres and output increased to a more than adequate 260 BHP. The transfer gearbox was rebuilt as were the differentials. The brakes were overhauled and upgraded as was the suspension, with anti-roll bars fitted front and rear. The bodywork was taken care of and the car has been repainted to a magnificent standard in Aintree Green. Originally a standard 110, the rear has been cut-off to make it a Double cab pick-up, strength was added by fitting a Land Rover roll-bar. The interior has been trimmed in tan leather and again this has been carried out to an exemplary standard, even the dashboard has been trimmed in leather. The loadspace area has been fitted with four inward facing seats making this effectively a ten-seater Land Rover. All of the ancillaries have been replaced, wheels, tyres, rear soft top, badges, in addition to central locking and rear camera. To build such a vehicle in this manner and to this standard would be in excess of £100,000. The quality of this outstanding vehicle has to be seen to be appreciated, viewing is highly recommended. Classic Defenders are becoming increasingly rare and popular, this 35 year old vehicle is in better condition than when it originally left Lode Lane.
2003 Ferrari 575M (Fiorano Handling Pack) Transmission: paddleMileage:26332The Ferrari 575M is an excellent example of Italian engineering and craftsmanship. It combines luxury, performance and comfort in one package. Released in 2002, this car was the successor to the 550 Maranello. The 575M saw several changes from its predecessor, including a larger engine and a redesigned interior. The 575M is powered by a 5.7 litre V12 engine that produces 508hp and 434 lb-ft of torque. This engine was mated to a six-speed manual transmission, or optional F1 gearbox. The 575M also features an adaptive suspension system, allowing it to adapt to the driver's needs and driving style. This car offers excellent performance, with a 0-60 mph time of 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 202mph.This particular example is presented in Argento Nürburgring, with Blu Scuro leather interior. The car features the optional Fiorano Handling Pack, which comprises of a more sporting suspension setup, faster steering rack and larger brakes. This example was also specified with the highly desirable 19€ modular wheels, which give the car a much more sporting look. Another rare option which this car has, is the interior rollover bar, also trimmed in Blu Scuro leather. It comes with a comprehensive service history, with 14 services recorded, the most recent being an annual oil, filter and brake fluid change in February 2023 at Dick Lovett in Swindon. The car presents in very good general condition with the paintwork retaining a good shine and also the interior presents well. The car went to Bell Sport & Classic in February 2021 where they carried out a cambelt service, just 1,000 miles ago. This is a fantastic example, in a subtle colour combination, with an attractively low mileage and would be a fantastic addition to any Ferrari collection.
2013 Airstream International 685 Transmission: manualMileage:Airstream is an American brand of caravans which are easily recognised by the distinctive shape of their rounded and polished aluminium coachwork. This body shape dates back to the 1930s and is based on designs created by Hawley Bowlus. Airstream trailers and recreational vehicles are manufactured in Jackson Center, Ohio. The company, now a division of Thor Industries, employs more than 800 people, and is the oldest in the industry.Airstreamers are a group who share a community spirit because of their common love of the trailers. In the early 1950s, Airstream company founder Wally Byam began leading groups of owners on travels to many parts of the world, where the towed trailers were quite a remarkable sight. Photos taken of the trailers in front of many famous tourist sites were common. This promoted a mystique which surrounded Airstreams and persists to this day.The five-berth Airstream International 685 is a great, retro caravan ideal for families travelling. This quirky model contains three bunk beds at the rear of the model which is good for people on holiday with young children. 2017 Ultima GTR Transmission: manualMileage:3300Ultima GTR - The fastest accelerating and decelerating supercar of all time and multiple world speed record holder. The exciting Ultima GTR road car is the result of over 20 years of extensive research and development and is a product that takes the Ultima marque to sensational levels of fit, finish and performance. The world renowned GTR really is a supercar in every sense of the word which has officially humbled every last mainstream car on the planet bar none. In 2006, for instance, the GTR was crowned as the fastest production car in the world, beating the likes of the Bugatti Veyron, Ferrari Enzo and McLaren F1 to a plethora of world speed acceleration and deceleration records. In 2007, the GTR was independently timed around the Top Gear test track and was found to be a blistering 6.2 seconds per lap faster than the £450,000 Ferrari Enzo, staggering the onlookers witnessing the remarkable feat! Aerodynamic efficiency and balance has been of paramount importance on a car that is capable of over 200mph. Attention has centred around the length of the rear of the car to help clean up the airflow and thus improve down force, whilst maintaining a short front and rear overhang has ensured that the Ultima performs perfectly on normal roads taking speed bumps and ferry ramps in its stride. These developments have been comprehensively tested at MIRA (the Motor Industry Research Association) where the group was so impressed by the results that it sought an Ultima GTR as the centrepiece for many exhibition appearances publicising the extensive facilities that they have available for car manufacturers. The ultra clean look of the GTR and the faultless self-coloured gel coat bodywork has not been achieved through luck, but rather by design. The production car feel of the Ultima is immediately apparent, from the specially moulded headlight housings and covers to the immaculate panel fit and lack of any external body catches. Huge wheels front and back fill the wheel arches declaring its performance potential and the sensational appearance of the car has been applauded by designers and connoisseurs alike. This fabulous example is presented in the iconic and nostalgic Rothmans colours synonymous with the Le Mans Porsche sports cars. It is fitted with a 6.2 litre fuel injected LS3 GM performance crate engine with EFI ECU, mated to a six-speed Porsche G50 gearbox supplied by Ultima. It has an FIA roll cage, lowered floor pan, twin fuel tanks, big brake kit, Alcantara pneumatic seats with adjusters, double skin package and a Thatcham Category 6 alarm immobiliser. Its air box was designed by Gardner Douglas, has LED lights and carbon fibre box lids. The starter motor (new) and alternator have both been upgraded and the engine has been tuned by Wortec. Air conditioning has been fitted and the instrumentation is Ultima with a leather and Alcantara dashboard which is standard factory fitted. The car sits on three-piece Billet wheels, and we understand that this fabulous sports car weighs in at only 1093kg! A truly stunning sports car with shattering performance to match, superb at the fraction of the price of more familiar Italian rivals!!
1972 Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600 Super Transmission: manualMileage:37661The first Giulia 105 series of motor cars, the Giulia Ti, was introduced to the motoring press at Monza on the 27th June 1962 in Berlina (saloon) form. Driven by the classic Alfa twin cam, engine capacity was increased from its predecessor, the Giulietta, from 1290cc to 1570cc and produced 92bhp in the new guise. The new car also included a five-speed column change gearbox, umbrella handbrake and strip instrumentation. Designed by Dr. Orazio Satta Puglia, the initial look is of a somewhat square but compact motor car however, look more closely; the detailed swaging along the roof, wings, and doors along with a subtle roof spoiler and Kamm tail gave encouraging results in the wind tunnel. In 1965, at the Geneva Motor Show, the Giulia Super was introduced. Based on the Ti, improvements included a floor change gearbox and centrally mounted handbrake as well as attractive round instruments with ancillary gauges mounted centrally. Twin Weber carburettors were fitted and the power was increased to 112bhp.Completed on 16th October 1972, this Italian built, right hand drive Giulia 1600 Super was destined for delivery to its first owner in Cyprus. Ordered in Verde Pino (Pine Green) with contrasting Wild Boar Tex (tan) interior, it was sold by the Cyprian Alfa Romeo dealer D.J. Demades and Sons of Nicosia and was first registered on 15th November 1972. Rarely found with any classic, the supplied two service books show regular maintenance carried out for the first ten years by Demades and Sons. The history file also shows that since the car's import to the U.K. in 2013, it has been well maintained, with a file full of receipts from reputable Alfa Romeo specialist companies such as Alfaholics, Classic Alfa and Bournemouth based Autolusso. In fact, Autolusso were commissioned, in 2017, to carry out a full rebuild of the engine at a cost of over £6,000. The engine rebuild reportedly transformed the car along with several other upgrades to the handling, including; the fitting of an uprated front anti-roll bar, a set of Bilstein shock absorbers, replacement of various joints, suspension arms and bushes along with the fitment of a set of TZ/TI Super wheels and tyres. The car presents beautifully and the vendor reports it to be a pleasure to drive with the bodywork, engine bay and interior all presenting very well.Supplied with a V5C registration document, file of receipts, MoT test certificates and its original service books, original build manuals and workshop details as well as two sets of keys. Rarely found in this condition and highly original, this lovely little Alfa wants for nothing and is ready to go!
1964 MG B Roadster Transmission: manualMileage:62864Conceived in the late 1950s and launched in 1962, the MGB would turn out to be one of the most successful sportscars of all time. Attractively styled, cheap to run and easily maintained by the home mechanic, the 'B' carried on MG's traditional role of providing affordable, sports car motoring for the ordinary enthusiast. The MGB was mechanically similar to the preceding MGA, though with heavier, unitary construction bodyshell. To compensate for the newcomer's increased weight, the existing B-Series engine was stretched from 1622 to 1798cc while the MGB's aerodynamically efficient lines made the most of the maximum available 95bhp to achieve a top speed which just topped the magic 'ton'. A 'right first time' design that changed little over the years apart from the adoption of a more robust five-main-bearing engine in 1965 (fitted from the start of GT production that autumn), a minor facelift for 1970 and the adoption of plastic bumpers (to comply with US legislation) for 1975, the 'B' enjoyed an 18 year production life and sales totalling in excess of 500,000 cars. Its popularity remaining undiminished today, the classic MGB is one of the easiest sports cars of its era to run and maintain in the 21st Century, being served by a worldwide industry of spare parts and service providers.Presented in British Racing Green, this 1964 MBG Roadster is the perfect foil for this summer's motoring. Its popularity remaining undiminished today, the classic MGB is one of the easiest sports cars of its era to run and maintain in the 21st Century, being served by a worldwide industry of spare parts and service providers.Guide Price £13,000-£17,000
1960 Austin Healey 3000 Mk. I Transmission: manualMileage:The Austin Healey 3000 Mk. I four-seater was a sports car produced between 1959 and 1961. This version of the popular sports car featured four seats, making it a practical option for families and those who wanted to enjoy the open road with friends. Under the hood, the Austin Healey 3000 Mk. I four-seater featured a 2.9 litre straight-six engine capable of producing up to 124 horsepower, which was mated to a four-speed manual transmission. This engine allowed the car to accelerate from 0-60mph in just 11.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 112mph.This beautiful Austin Healey was built in August 1960 and despatched to Bournemouth Imperial Motors a month later. The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certified copy of the factory records is present and shows that the car features a heater and the ever-desirable overdrive. The file for this car contains various bills, receipts and details of earlier works. More recently this car has benefitted from a no expense spared restoration by marque specialist Gerald 'Jeggs' Stephenson. His 40 plus years of experience with Healeys is obvious to see in this immaculate example. HSV 925 presents impeccably in Healey Blue with Ivory white coachwork and a blue interior and features subtle upgrades to the braking system, a stainless steel exhaust and electronic ignition. The engine was overhauled and balanced at Richard Parker race engines and features a performance camshaft. This is possibly the finest example of a Mk. I available in the market today.
1973 Alfa Romeo 2000 GT Veloce Transmission: manualMileage:75791The Giulia 105 Series Coupé was first shown to the motoring press on 9th September 1963, at the new Arese works in Milan and was mechanically based on the TI saloon (Berlina). Known as the Sprint GT, later versions were introduced that included the GT Veloce and 1750 GTV. June 1971 saw the replacement of the 1750 GTV with the 2000 GTV, the new model being presented at Gardone. A larger displacement engine of 1962cc in the new 2000 GTV saw power increase over its predecessor that now gave 132bhp and a top speed of more than 120mph. The greater low speed torque and larger flexibility at higher revs is a feature of this 2.0 litre capacity engine. Externally a new horizontal front grille incorporated the Alfa shield and the rear wing line was revised giving a slightly sleeker look, 'Biscione' (serpent-eating-a-man), badges adorned the rear pillars and the rear light clusters were enlarged. The interior trim was revised with velour cloth material or leatherette for the seats and the instruments were grouped into one cluster to enable easier and quicker scanning of the instruments. Production ceased in 1976.The Alfa Romeo archive confirms that this incredibly original and unmodified, time warp 2000 GT Veloce, was delivered new to Cyprus and then to its first owner, a Mr. Ghinis through the Demandes Brothers Alfa Romeo dealership in September 1973, (the Cypriot cars were an identical specification to the U.K. examples, even including the heated rear screen option). A publisher by trade, Mr. Ghinis used the car to travel Europe for work including trips to the U.K. Italy and Greece. The supplied original service coupon book shows service stamps in Bristol, Athens and Cyprus, verifying the cars early travels. Mr. Ghinis clearly saw the value in looking after his car, as can be seen by the condition it remains in today. Upon Mr. Ghinis' death in 1999, his widow couldn't bear to part with the car and thus kept it in storage for 15 years, until in 2014 when it was sold and brought to the U.K. (for the second time)! It was at this time the car underwent a sympathetic recommissioning with Alfa Romeo specialists Autodelta, that included a full brake overhaul, carburettor strip and rebuild along with a full service. Since then, the car has been owned by Alfa Romeo enthusiasts, who have spared no expense on maintaining the car's incredible condition and originality. The entire structure and all the factory panels remain, as do all the factory spot welds. The condition of the bodyshell can only be described as exceptional with the sills, arches and valances all in excellent order. Looking around the car, it is hard to find fault. The interior, wheels and bodywork all present beautifully. The interior carpets are original, the dash uncracked and the seats unblemished. Indeed, the vendor reports the car to run and drive faultlessly, with the two litre twin cam engine pulling strongly. The substantial history files that accompany the car includes many original documents for its life in Cyprus and right up to the present day.Supplied with a V5C registration document, sizable file of receipts, MoT test certificates and its original service books, handbooks and many other interesting items. An opportunity to acquire such an original and well documented 2000 GT Veloce is incredibly rare and as such, an opportunity not to be missed.
1970 Lotus Europa Transmission: manualMileage:9926The Lotus Europa used Lotus founder Colin Chapman's minimalist steel backbone chassis that was first used in the Elan, while also relying on its fibreglass moulded body for structural strength, and was based on a prototype built to compete for Henry Ford II's contract to build a Le Mans racing car in the early 1960's. The four-wheel independent suspension was typical of Chapman's thinking. The rear suspension was a modified Chapman strut, as used for Chapman's earlier Formula racing car designs with the handling prompting automotive writers to describe the Europa as the nearest thing to a Formula car for the road. The Series One was announced for sale in 1966 and was fitted with a modified Renault 16, 1470cc, inline-four engine and a four-speed gearbox. The Europa was designed and built to be an embodiment of Chapman's often stated philosophy of automotive design; simplify, then add lightness. This lovely 1970 Lotus Europa has had over £34,000 spent on restoration works over the last ten years. This included a new Spyder chassis with the Renault Fuego transaxle conversion. All new wishbones and suspension with coil-over shocks, new bushes, bearings etc. The engine was replaced with the revered Renault 807 Gordini style alloy engine, fitted with twin 40 DCOE Weber carburettors and a four-branch sports exhaust system. Repainted in yellow with the interior restored in black and yellow leather and the dashboard refurbished. The car is fitted with electric windows, central locking with an alarm immobiliser and a period looking digital radio and also the car's alloy wheels have been refurbished. The Lotus Europa is a classic sports car that was ahead of its time in terms of design and performance. Its lightweight body, powerful engine, and excellent handling make it a beloved car among enthusiasts and collectors alike.
1936 Mercedes-Benz 170V Roadster Transmission: manualMileage:The Mercedes-Benz 170V (W136) was the company's chief four-cylinder offering from 1935 through to 1955. It was available in saloon, cabriolet, roadster, cabrio-limousine and even pickup and van guises. Pre-1950 the range was powered by an engine of 1697cc capacity. Total production of the W136 line numbered some 158,196 units. This wonderful left hand drive 170V two-seater is believed to be one of only 13 dickie-seat versions remaining of circa 250 produced. It is thought to have come off the production line in 1936 and subsequently brought to the UK by its first keeper, a Baron Von Rautenburg, the then consul of the German embassy in London. First UK registered just nine days before the outbreak of WWII. While much of the history has sadly been lost, there are some early images of the car whilst owned by its second keeper an A J Ray Whiteway, who was Chairman of the Mercedes-Benz Club from 1963 to 1970. They even include shots of the car competing in the club's first ever concours d'elegance, which was held at Gerrards Cross in 1953. Club records suggest it was then owned by a D S D Lenoir before being acquired by the vendor in 1974. He apparently purchased it as a non-runner for £1,000 and had it restored in Oxfordshire, during which the colour was changed from white to its current livery of brown over yellow. The black vinyl interior trim is believed to be original and we understand the existing engine is, however, a 44bhp post-war unit of 1701cc, that appears to have been installed in the late 1960's / early 1970's. Evidently it has only done 200 miles since being thoroughly rebuilt some five years ago, at which time the brake system was overhauled and the clutch was inspected but deemed to be in good order. Recent maintenance has included the replacement of the water pump, front wheel bearings and tyres, while within the last 200 miles a reconditioned differential has been purchased from Germany and installed. The vendor now considers the powerplant and manual transmission to be in very good order.Black and white images by kind permission of the Mercedes-Benz Club Archives.Interested parties should note that contrary to the catalogue description, this example has not run in circa five years and as such general recommissioning will be required. However, prior to this five-year period the Mercedes was treated to a mechanical restoration, and we believe only light recommissioning will be required.
2014 Porsche 911 / 991 Turbo S Cabriolet Transmission: automaticMileage:17352The Porsche 991 is the internal designation for the seventh generation of the Porsche 911, unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show on 15th September as the replacement for the 997. The 991 was an entirely new platform, only the third since the original 911 launched in 1963 (the 996 of 1999 was the second new platform). Introduced in 2012, the 991 Turbo has a twin turbocharged 3.8 litre flat-six engine generating 513bhp and 457lb‹…ft of torque with all-wheel drive. The Turbo comes as standard with Porsche's PDK dual clutch transmission and is the first Turbo model to not feature a manual transmission. The car was faster and lighter thanks to greater use of aluminium, but also more comfortable than ever before. The Turbo S in particular is the pinnacle of the 911 range, offering the best balance of comfort and performance before moving towards track orientated models such as the GT3 and GT3 RS.This fabulous Porsche Cabriolet is presented in the delightful colour combination of GT Silver metallic with contrasting red interior and a burgundy roof. Presenting in fabulous, virtually unmarked condition, this Turbo S cabriolet has formed part of a private collection since the vendor purchased the car from Porsche Centre Colchester in August 2018. The car has covered less than three thousand miles since the start of his tenureship. The automatic soft top can be raised or lowered in just 13 seconds and very impressively at speeds of up to 31mph. Service records confirm the low mileage to be correct and the condition is certainly commensurate with such a low mileage example. The most recent service was carried out by Porsche Brooklands in December 2022. Supplied with a V5 registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 17th November 2023. This Porsche 991 Turbo S Cabriolet is exceptional in every aspect.
1969 Porsche 912 Transmission: manualMileage:Manufactured between 1965 and 1969, the Porsche 912 was very much the entry level Porsche sports car. Although, for some time, considered the poorer relation to the 911, the 912 is a serious sports car in its own right. With aerodynamic lines, low weight and an efficient engine, the 912 demonstrated good performance, nimble handling and economy, resulting in initial production cars outselling the 911. The 912 won Car and Driver's 1967 'Readers Choice' Poll for its class, a popular choice for motorsport teams and a rally prepared 912 won its class in the 1967 European Rally Championship. This superb left hand drive example of this highly sought after model is presented in the rare evocative colour of Bahama Yellow with black interior. Its nostalgic sounding 1800cc four-cylinder engine is mated to a five-speed 'dog leg' gearbox. The vendor has just spent circa £2,000 on the car and it comes with a good history file including photographic proof of its restoration. This Porsche is in absolutely stunning condition with the vendor scoring it ten out of ten in terms of quality all round! This is certainly a Porsche for the collector or connoisseur without doubt.
