Holmes Motor Company Ltd (trading as HMC Sports Cars) was founded in 1984 by Graham and Peter Holmes. HMC manufactured sports cars inspired by the Austin Healey 3000, although the body shape was similar, the performance was that of an extremely capable modern sports car which was widely regarded as the first in it's class. This stunning example is finished in blue and have only covered 23,000 miles with an MOT until September 2016.

A 1933 Morris 10 sliding roof saloon, registration number OC 1907, chassis number 14042, engine number 14472, green over black. This beautifully presented Morris is finished in a most becoming shade of green over black, with a contrasting green leather interior. The vendor, a Morris enthusiast, has been able to trace the history of the car from its original owner, a Mr R M Williams, who resided at Holyhead Road, Handsworth, Birmingham, right through to the present day. The history charts seven subsequent changes of ownership before the vendor, who acquired the Morris in 2014. The Morris is offered for auction with a comprehensive history file, including the original bill of sale, receipts, photographs, tax discs, expired MOTs, an original handbook, Pitman's handbook, information and service manual, the detailed history of all the past owners and a period radio and picnic hamper for that retro look. A 1965 Jaguar Mk II 3.4 litre manual overdrive sports saloon, registration number FDF 261C, dark blue. Bill Lyons iconic Mk II Jaguar is for most people the epitome of what a classic car should be, elegant, powerful and spacious. This 3.4 manual overdrive power assisted steering example has been used by the vendor as his everyday car for the last three years. The Jaguar was restored approximately 15 years ago by a previous custodian, who used the car sparingly. The vendor advises us that the body is very solid but there are some minor paintwork and body issues which could be rectified as time and funds allow. He has concentrated on making the Jaguar a reliable and enjoyable car to drive and to this end he has spent approximately £2,000 on the maintenance during his ownership, which has included uprated XJ6 three pot calliper front brakes, overhauled brake and clutch master cylinders, new fuel tank and exhaust down pipes and the overhaul of the steering assembly. The Jaguar is attractively finished in dark blue with a dark blue leather interior which is fitted with an aftermarket Moto-Lita wood rim steering wheel and gear knob. A 1954 Ford Zephyr Six Mk I convertible, registration number TDH 559, chassis number 98804, engine number 98804, ivory. The Zephyr Six, which has become retrospectively known as the Mk I, had a five year production run between 1951 and 1956. As well as the standard four door saloon factory model, two authorised conversions were available, the estate which was constructed by Abbotts of Farnham and the convertible made by Carbodies. This Carbodies convertible which we have the pleasure of offering for auction must be one of the most original and low mileage examples to come onto the market. She displays less than 30,000 miles on the odometer and still retains her original power hood, body panels and interior. The engine was fitted in period with an early Raymond Mays aluminium cylinder head with twin carburettors and the Zephyr has the very desirable three speed manual gearbox with Laycock-de-Normanville overdrive. From history supplied by the vendor it can be seen that the Zephyr was supplied by the Walsall Ford agent to the first owner a Colonel Lindop (Colonel Lindop's calling card on file) who retained the car for one year before passing it on to Hayward's of Wolverhampton who subsequently sold the Ford to Mr Crumpton of Wednesbury Staffs, who would retain the car until 1989. When purchased by Mr Ovens in 1989 the car had been off the road since 1971 (original tax disc on file) and had an odometer reading of 27,690 miles. Mr Ovens used the car very sparingly during his ownership adding less than 2,000 miles to the odometer attending local classic shows and the odd day out. Our vendor acquired the Ford to add to his collection in 2012 where upon it was serviced and MOT'd (no advisories). Since then it has again seen little use only adding a further 120 miles to the odometer. A 1968 Lotus Elan S4 SE DHC, registration number FAR 88G, chassis number 8104, engine number LP12843LBA, Carnival red. Garage stored since 1998, this lady owned Type 45 special equipment model was purchased by her in 1981 for £2,500 (receipt on file). Finished in Carnival red with a black interior, hood and hood cover, it features knock off wheels with correct three blade spinners and the rare Colin Chapman signed original steering wheel. Prior to going into storage the chassis was replaced at 91,000 miles and a new engine was installed at 94,750 miles, the current recorded mileage is 101,820 miles. During storage the paintwork has deteriorated with a patch missing from the bonnet. The Elan will now require recommissioning and restoring as necessary having spent 18 years in hibernation. This charming example is offered for auction with some spares including a pair of new drive shafts. A history file accompanys the Elan with receipts, the purchase receipt, past MOTs, tax discs, original handbooks and workshop manual and wheel brace and jack in its original wallet. When the press reviewed the most recent automatic transmission-only B8 RS4, they were rightly enthusiastic about what is a great car, yet many mourned the more engaging nature of the smaller, manual gearbox-only B7 model produced between 2006 and 2008 - in hindsight it was more of a driver's car. The exceedingly handsome Phantom Black Avant example offered here has led a cherished three owner existence. It was first registered in July 2007, but by Christmas was in the hands of a fanatical keeper who maintained the car, money no object, via franchised Audi dealers. During his tenure both the front discs and adaptive suspension were replaced under warranty and 'FM07 OEB' served as a show car for Milltek Sport exhaust systems. The current owner, a well-known automotive PR consultant and author, acquired the Avant in February 2011, since when it has again been meticulously maintained regardless of cost - this time by the multi award-winning Audi specialists APS of Brackley. Serviced on the nail every year, it has also recently benefited from: new front discs and calipers; oil cooler; engine de-coke; alloy wheel refurbishment; and new Kumho ECSTA KU39 front tyres. The car's many desirable factory and aftermarket fitments include: Milltek Hi-Flow performance stainless steel exhaust system and Revo engine remap (440bhp); factory-fitted sports suspension, bucket seats and flat-bottomed steering wheel; technology pack (DVD-based SAT/NAV, 6-CD auto-changer, adaptive headlights); Black optic pack; electric glass tilt/slide sunroof; Tracker. The vendor presently classes the bodywork, Black leather interior trim, 4.2-litre V8 engine and six-speed manual gearbox as 'excellent' and the original lustrous paintwork as 'very good'. Having now covered a relatively low and fully warranted 84,600 miles, this lovely-looking and fully-sorted performance Audi is being made available for another keeper to enjoy and comes complete with massive history file, spare key and a brand new MOT.
