A rare Second World War British Military Issue Grana W.W.W (Watch, Wrist, Waterproof) stainless steel manual wristwatch, one of the 'Dirty Dozen', the circular black dial bearing broad arrow mark, with luminous 'pencil' hands and Arabic numerals, railroad minute track and subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o'clock position, marked with 10 seconds intervals, reverse stamped 'WWW M 18884', case 36mm wide (excluding crown) with attached later strap The term 'Dirty Dozen' refers to the twelve watch manufacturers selected by the British Ministry of Defence to supply British soldiers with a standardised timepiece. The chosen companies were Buren, Eterna, Grana, Jaeger Le Coultre, Lemania, Longines, IWC, Omega, Recird, Timor, Vertex, and, as listed, CYMA. Although thousands of these watches were produced, fewer than 20 collectors worldwide are believed to own a 'full set'.It is believed that only 1,000 - 1,500 of these watches were produced for British Military issue, making this watch one of the rarest and most coveted of the 'Dirty Dozen'. CONDITION REPORT: Ticks when wound. Hands fully rotate. Lacking enamel dot dial to '4' '5' '6' and flanking '12' baton. Face with small section of residue between '1' and '2'. Crystal scratched. Rim of crystal perished. Hands showing enamel losses and flaking. Case sides and bezel showing some scratching and light denting. Knifed opening marks visible to left side of case and reverse. An astonishing and incredible large archive of personal effects relating to a PC (and later Sgt) 148 Albert Mead of the Bucks Constabulary in the 1920's & 1930's. The collection of effects, comprising of: 29 of Mead's 'beat' notebooks - each completely filled out in pencil with various notes of crimes / misdemeanours - hundreds of entries included (from petty theft, lost property, descriptions of assailants, crime scenes, sketches of accidents etc) each notebook stamped with a date to the first page (1930's) - a fascinating insight into the life of a 1930's Constable. Also included are a wealth of candid images (taken by Mead - he was a keen photographer) including several of road accidents - including one with a tractor, a Rolls Royce & a coach - all c1930's, many with the original negatives (some glass negatives) present. Various photographs of Mead in uniform, and his colleagues are also present. Mead's WWII Second World War era ' Police ' steel helmet is also included, along with his Defence and War medal (within the original box), his helmet badges, uniform buttons and identification numbers. Ephemera relating to Mead within this lot also includes; his handwritten training note book (from 1923) which details all the terminology and such of Police work, his official ' Police Jiu Jitsu ' manual, various guide books on Law and Motoring Law, a large Bucks Constabulary group photograph, and various other items - including a fabulous poster for a ' Police Dance ' and related items. Two editions (1906 1916) of this quintessential French information manual, circa 500pp each, bound in light fawn cloth with black titles and penny-corners. Also, Comment on Construit une Automobile by the same author, the 1906 and 1907 editions, with complementary light fawn cloth bindings and penny-corners. Together with two similar small 8vo volumes, Les Accesoires of 1913 and La Voiture de Tourisme with 135 separate line drawings and pictures, the latter in quarter leather and marbled boards. Volume 1 and 2, 861pp and Volume 3, 416pp with indices, 6 1/4 x 8 3/4-inches. In fair condition, spines a little loose. Also, Le Moteur by H. Petit dated 1907 and nicely rebound in red buckram using the original black and gilt titles. Also, Manual Pratique by Maurice Farman; A Guide de Chauffeur d'Automobiles by M.
