the so-called Agitkost' album is covered with two black papier-mache lacquered plaques on the front and on the back; the front cover is intricately decorated with carved walrus bone, the back cover is raised on four round feet. The bone carvings feature: the title on the top reading Belomoro-Baltiyskiy vodnyi put' [White Sea Baltic Waterway]; a rectangular plaque with a portrait of Joseph Stalin in an oval frame on the upper left; a plaque depicting a worker erecting grand flags and holding a pick, with water running through a floodgate behind him on the lower left; two plaques seamed in the center featuring a map of the waterway painted in blue and red; a plaque depicting a standard with Stalin's quote: [White Sea Baltic Waterway is the crucial stage in building the new Soviet Person - a powerful creator of his New life, of a new Socialist face of the Earth!] on the upper right; elaborately carved plaque depicting construction in progress, two seagulls soaring in the sky, and a frontier guard with his hound on the lower right. The album includes 158 vintage gelatin silver prints. The photographs illustrate the construction of the waterway, as well as the scenes from the life of the participating people. Some of the individuals were physically cut out from the photographs due to Stalin's repressive regime. Size: 45 x 33 cm (17 1/2 x 13 in.). This album is accompanied by two books: 1) A. S. Insarov, Baltiysko-Belomorskiy vodnyi put', (Moscow: OGIZ - GOSTRANSIZDAT, 1934) 2) M. Gorkiy, L. Averbakh, S. Firin, Belomorsko-Baltiyskiy kanal imeni Stalina, (Moscow: OGIZ - "ISTORIYA FABRIK I ZAVODOV", 1934) Several images from this album correspond to the ones in the accompanying book, Belomorsko-Baltiyskiy kanal imeni Stalina. Alexander Rodchenko was amongst the photographers who provided materials for this book (his name is listed on the last page). Some of the illustrations featured in the book are well-known photographs by Rodchenko from his 1931 trip to the waterway construction site. He had gone there three times, making thousands of shots during his trips. Significant amount of photo prints included in the present lot corresponds to Rodchenko’s signature style of geometrical photography shot with a diagonal point of view. The White Sea-Baltic Canal opened on 2 August 1933. It connects the White Sea with Lake Onega, which is further connected to the Baltic Sea. Until 1961, its original name was Belomorsko–Baltiyskiy Kanal imeni Stalina [the Stalin White Sea-Baltic Sea Canal]. The canal runs partially along several canalised rivers and Lake Vygozero. The total length of the route is 227 kilometres (141 mi), of which 48 kilometres (30 mi) are man-made. The Soviet Union presented the canal as an example of the success of the First Five-Year Plan. Its construction was completed four months ahead of schedule. The entire canal was constructed in twenty months, between 1931 and 1933, almost entirely by manual labour. The canal was the first major project constructed in the Soviet Union using forced labour. The workforce for the Canal of an estimated 100,000 convicts was supplied by the Belbaltlag camp directorate of the OGPU GULAG. Prison labour camp projects were not usually publicised, but the work on the Belomor canal was an exception, as the convicts were thought to not only construct the canal but reforge themselves in the process (Soviet concept of perekovka. The working conditions were brutal, with the prisoners given only primitive hand tools to carry out the massive construction project. The mortality was about 8.7%. Still more became sick and disabled.
1981 Moto-Guzzi 493 cc. Reg. no. HKW 323W. Frame no. PB 16919. Engine no. 17444. Moto Guzzi’s long-running, 90-degree, v-twin engine layout was retained for a new range of models planned during the 1970s. The scaled-down Guzzi debuted as the V35/V50 in 1976, though deliveries were limited until the Innocenti car factory had been re-equipped for motorcycle production. Lightweight and compact, characteristics that endeared it to smaller riders, Guzzi’s little v-twins were economical, well-engineered and they handled superbly; top speed for the V50 was 100mph-plus. This example has been in current ownership for a number of years, and only comes to the market in order to reduce the collection. The bike is expected to have a new MOT by the time of sale following a period of little use. It is offered here with a V5c and a workshop manual.
1999 Honda CB500S – only 10,342 miles from new.. Reg. no. T293 AUA. Frame no. ZDCPC32E0WF303581. Engine no. PC26E2304241. The Honda CB500 twins are a family of medium sized standard motorcycles produced by Honda from 1993. Because of their low cost, reliability and good handling they are popular with commuters and couriers. The half-faired Honda CB500S was introduced in 1998. This 1999 example has seen just light summer use by its lady owner. It has full main dealer service history and all the MOT certificates in addition to a service record booklet, a Honda owner’s manual and various receipts. It has a variety of accessories that will be sold with the bike that include a Givi Monorack, heated grips, engine bars and ‘Datatagged’ (certificate included). This reluctant sale is forced by a house move; the bike hasn’t been used since September 2014 and the MOT expires at the end of April 2015.
PLEASE NOTE: The vendor had hoped to present this lot for sale with a fresh MOT certificate. However, it has just failed a MOT test due to an ABS fault. A copy of the relevant fail sheet will be available for inspection alongside the rest of the Daimler's paperwork. - Flagship XJ40 model but 1 of only c.235 known survivors - 66,900 recorded miles and worthy of close inspection - Cream leather upholstery, walnut veneers and MOT'd till Feb 2016 Further Info: Notable as the last Jaguar to receive design input from marque founder Sir William Lyons, the XJ40 can also be credited with securing the company's future. As befitted its range-topping status, the Daimler 3.6 variant boasted leather upholstery, air conditioning, electric windows, rear picnic tables, electric front seats and central locking as standard. Quoted as developing some 221bhp and 240lbft of torque, its 3.6-litre DOHC 24-valve straight-six engine was allied to four-speed automatic transmission (complete with Jaguar's intuitive `J-gate' to aid manual changes). Reputedly capable of 135mph and 0-60mph in 8.8 seconds, the Daimler 3.6 offered a wonderfully cosseting experience for driver and passenger alike. 1 of only circa 235 survivors known to the DVLA, `E272 MDE' is understood to have covered just 66,900 miles from new. A late `black rear plinth' example that has reportedly been cherished by its previous keepers, the Daimler is also said to boast an `impressive service history'. Recently rejuvenated, its cream leather upholstery is complimented by beige carpets and walnut veneers.

This delightful and very rare survivor from the "Austin rover" days, is a real find. Retaining its supplying dealer number plates and finished in Henley blue over tempest grey, this one registered keeper example is showing a little over 11,900 recorded miles and is a real time warp example that is good enough to show at club level. Examples of this 1980's family hatchback are getting very thin on the ground now and ones in this sort of condition are something of a rarity. The bodywork, paint finish, interior trim and carpets clearly show that the Austin has been cherished throughout her life and even comes complete with the original dealer PDI rear view mirror hanger and the spare wheel and tyre are in original and "as new" condition. On file is the original book pack complete with owner's manual and the original service booklet with various service stamps and a large number of previous MoT certificates and a current MoT into June 2015. Images copyright Tim Wallace - 1 of only 96 two-seater Super Sports made by the factory - Despatched on November 6th 1961 to marque concessionaire Fergus Motors of New York - Built to left-hand drive, USA specification with wire wheels, disc brakes and Lawrence tuned engine - An early example complete with High Line bodywork and cream-faced gauges (including 140mph speedometer) - Previously resident in Santa Monica and garaged alongside another iconic sportscar - a Shelby Cobra - as part of a private American collection - Current engine sports a Lawrence Tune rocker cover, twin-choke Weber carburettors and tubular exhaust manifolds etc - Morgan Motor Company Ltd Chassis Record to confirm provenance - MOT'd until Feb 2016 Further Info: Identified by its accompanying Morgan Motor Company Ltd Chassis Record as a genuine +4 Super Sports two-seater (1 of just 96 made), chassis 5004 was built for the American market complete with wire wheels, disc brakes and Lawrence tuned engine. Initially finished in Broken White with Red leather upholstery, the Morgan was despatched to marque concessionaire Fergus Motors of New York on 6th November 1961. Whether or not the Super Sports was used for competition by first owner Miss Brown is unknown. Though, the copy warranty card on file reveals that its original engine suffered problems due to a faulty oil cooler. The replacement unit currently fitted is believed to have been sourced from a Triumph TR3A (engine number TS31276E) but sports an authentic Lawrence Tune rocker cover, tubular exhaust manifolds and twin-choke Weber carburettors. The correct chassis number is stamped under the offside seat and the Morgan is said to pleasingly retain its original four-speed manual gearbox (number 2688R) which was overhauled in 2008. An early Super Sports featuring `High Line' bodywork and cream-faced instruments (including 140mph speedometer), chassis 5004 apparently acquired its present Brunswick Green livery and Biscuit leather upholstery during the 1980s whilst undergoing restoration at Reg Beer coachworks of Ontario, Canada. Part of a private Californian collection and garaged alongside a Shelby Cobra prior to being repatriated in 2009, the two-seater had all import duties paid at the time but has yet to be UK road registered. Although, the vendor has just obtained a MOT pass for the Morgan which should facilitate the process. Further Info: First registered by Lanarkshire County Council on 10th November 1966 Purchased by the vendor from marque specialist Labinjoh Ltd of Edinburgh some two years ago, `JVA 629D' was advertised for sale at £16,995 and as having covered just 64,000 miles in the hands of three careful owners. The Scottish firm had known of the Alfa Romeo since 2000 when it was a stalled restoration project belonging to Dr Mary Robinson of Gourock and undertook a front suspension overhaul, engine reassembly, electric window motor refurbishment, dashboard illumination fix and sundry bodywork repairs before selling the four-seater to Edinburgh resident Martin Proudler during autumn 2002. Treated to sundry gearbox and brake fettling shortly thereafter, the 2600 Sprint further benefited from re-trimmed cream leather seats in 2005 and a re-spray plus new Pirelli tyres some six years later. A retired engineer, the vendor estimates that he has spent some £3,250 on parts and put circa 200 hours worth of labour into `JVA 629D' during the past eighteen months or so. His recollection of the work which has gone into the car is as follows: Complete re-trim of the bootRear lights repaired and rewiredNew parcel shelf with integral speaker Glovebox lock fixedAll rubber door and quarter light seals renewedBattery wiring redone and master switch installedSill side finishers sourced and fittedSill door shut plates sourced and fittedNew inertia belts fittedFuel pumps serviced and fitted with new pipesEngine serviced (oil and filter)Coolant system serviced (plus new fan belt)Replace air filter with K&N and hosesReplace petrol pipes on carburettorsReplace control cables for bonnet and carburettorsReplate chrome rain gutter and quarter light trimsTidy interior trim and carpetsMOT and road test: All seems goodBodyshell checked: Appears very sound Offered for sale because a recent hip replacement has made driving uncomfortable, this Alfa Romeo 2600 Sprint is an underrated Gran Turismo with 1960s style aplenty.

Sparingly used over the last six years, the 2+2-seater is understood to have covered some 41,200 miles from new. Finished in Dunhill Silver with Charcoal leather upholstery and Walnut veneers, its potent 5935cc V12 engine (Aston claimed 420bhp and 400lbft) is allied to six-speed manual transmission. Previously professionally overhauled, its 2.4 litre straight-six boasts a stainless steel exhaust and is allied to four-speed manual plus overdrive transmission. Variously rated by the vendor as `fair' (bodywork, paintwork), `good' (engine, gearbox, electrical equipment) or `fair/original' (light blue interior trim), this early MK2 retains its original headlining-recessed sun visors, buff logbook and valve radio.
