MANNER OF ERNEST GIMSON A Cotswold School rosewood veneered lace box, possibly designed by Ernest Gimson, with marquetry top inlaid mother of pearl, boxwood, ebony and ivory in the form of flowering oak branches, the sides decorated with geometric ebony, rosewood, ivory and mother of pearl inlay, lined in cedar wood, 16 1/2" across, 13" deep, 4 3/4" high Note: See Annette Carruthers and Mary Greensted, Good Citizens Furniture - the Arts and Crafts Collections at Cheltenham, 1994, p. 94 for a Clergy seat designed by Ernest Gimson and made at Daneway by Percy Burchett and others (supervised by Peter Waals) in 1914 for an example of inlay in a similar style.
