An Edwardian yellow metal, two colour enamel and seed pearl set circular pendant, 22mm, gross 5 grams.CONDITION: There are some tiny chips to the white enamel border. There is a tiny graze chip to the blue enamel by the central seed pearl. The blue enamel on both sides have several minor surface nicks and scratches. There is a tiny nick to the metal on the edge.
An early 20th century yellow metal and three stone split pearl set half hoop ring, with diamond chip spacers, size P, gross 3.1 grams.CONDITION: One of the claws for one of the diamond chips is missing, otherwise the overall condition is good commensurate with age and some use. Closed back setting.
Charles J Lundgren (New York, Connecticut, 1911 - 1988) "U.S.S. Texas" Signed lower right. Original Oil painting on Masonite. Provenance: Collection of James A. Helzer (1946-2008), Founder of Unicover Corporation. This painting appeared on the Fleetwood Commemorative Cover for the U.S.S. Texas. Distinguished for her service as the flagship for the entire United States Fleet, the U.S.S. Texas was commissioned on 12 March 1914 with Captain Albert W. Grant in command. Assigned to the Atlantic Fleet, U.S.S. Texas saw her first action in Mexican waters in late April, 1914. Her next major action came as the United States entered World War I. She was sent to join the British Grand Fleet on 30 January 1917, arriving at Scapa Flow on 11 February. She assisted the British Fleet until 20-21 November 1918 when she accompanied the Grand Fleet to meet the surrendering German Fleet. After the war she served in the Pacific and the Atlantic Fleets until January 1931, when she was declared Flagship of the United States Fleet. Soon after World War II began in Europe, the U.S.S. Texas operated on the Neutrality Patrol until January 1942, when she got underway as a convoy escort following the bombing of Pearl Harbor. On 23 October 1942, the U.S.S. Texas embarked on her first major combat operation, participating in "Operation Torch" -- the invasion of North Africa. She arrived off the assault beaches in the early morning of 8 November and, by early afternoon her guns pounded Axis positions. The U.S.S. Texas fought with distinction in both the European and Pacific Theaters of World War II, earning five Battle Stars during the war. Image Size: 13.5 x 15.75 in. Overall Size: 20.5 x 21.75 in. Helzer (1946-2008), Founder of Unicover Corporation. This painting originally appeared on the Fleetwood Commemorative Cover for the U.S.S. Oklahoma. One of the first U.S. battleships fitted with maximum protection armor, the U.S.S. Oklahoma was commissioned on 2 May 1916 with Captain Roger Welles in command. She joined the Atlantic Fleet and trained on the eastern seaboard until 13 August 1918, when she sailed with her sister ship U.S.S. Nevada to protect Allied convoys in European waters during World War I. In December 1918, she was part of the escort for President Wilson as he arrived in France. U.S.S. Oklahoma continued serving with the Atlantic Fleet until 1921. She then joined the Pacific Fleet for six years, highlighted by the cruise of the Battle Fleet to Australia and New Zealand in 1925. U.S.S. Oklahoma joined the Scouting Fleet in early 1927. She was modernized in September 1927 and returned to the Pacific in 1930. She continued fleet exercises through the spring of 1936. U.S.S. Oklahoma rejoined her sister ship at Pearl Harbor on December 6, 1940. She was moored along Battleship Row on the morning of 7 December 1941 as the Japanese launched their surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. U.S.S. Oklahoma took three torpedoes almost immediately and began to capsize, two more torpedoes struck her, and her men were mercilessly strafed as they abandoned ship.
