A GEORGE III TRAVELLING-SET WITH 'AS WE FOUND IT' CONTENTS the serpentine shaped box with two drawers and a hinged lid, it is rectangular based and leather covered (distressed) with a fanned sarcophagus top, the finial with brass plaque inscribed M Latimer 1819 and the box is raised on four gilt metal floral feet. The hinged lid reveals the compartmented and cushioned sewing section and contains various associated trinkets including gilded scissors, ivory-based pin-cushion, mother-of-pearl items etc. The upper drawer contains a sequin bag and five Raphael Tuck & Sons figure-cards while the lower drawer is a writing slope with inkwells, 33cms wide

An early Victorian pink gem pearl and diamond ring the central pink gem is step cut ri 1.765 - 1.788 approx, surrounded by grain set rough rose cuts, possibly a pink sapphire, then a further ring of split pearls, the back is almost enclosed with just a small window behind the central gem. The Flying Tigers, American Volunteer Group (AVG) flew for China in early 1942 and achieved great success against the Japanese. They flew 100 Curtis Warhawk P-40's, complete with the famous red shark mouth.The American public reeling from Pearl Harbor were anxious to strike back NOW! The Flying Tigers were the only game in town at that point and the only Americans doing ANYTHING ANYWHERE against the Japanese. The Flying Tigers comprised three squadrons namely: Adam and Eves, Panda Bears and Hell's Angels. Colonel Chennault developed the basic fighter tactics that American pilots would use throughout WW-2. He highlighted Interception, diving pass, no dogfighting and diving when in trouble. This remained the fundamental U.S. fighter doctrine throughout the Pacific War. Good condition. Area of stringing loose on lid front. Repair to hinged lid front adjacent to lock. Areas of minor defects to hinged wings. Glass frame broken and reglued in several places. Glassware generally in good order. Turned feet probably associated and one broken and reglued.
