Some minor staining, light age wear and rubbing to the covers and spine, otherwise about VG Provenance: The Birthday Book was previously the property of Ella Prendergast, daughter of General Sir Harry Prendergast VC, whose signature appears in the present volume along with other members of her family. It would appear that she acquired a number of the signatures during the Tsarevich Nicholas's Grand Tour of the East 1890-91 during which he visited India from 23rd December 1890 - 12th January 1891. It was during this tour that the future Tsar Nicholas II was the subject of a failed assassination attempt (known as the Otsu incident) on 11th May 1891 during his visit to Japan.
