There is evidence of a removed hinge, right where the ribbons would be suspended. Except for the missing panels, the brooch is in very good condition and of fine quality.

The bow grain set with graduated cushion shaped old Swiss cut and old eight cut diamonds, with a cushion shaped old Swiss cut diamond claw set in a plain collet at the centre of each bow loop. A nice tight fitting hinge. Under scrutiny you will see some tiny scratches and dents. No cracking to the lid. The inside upholstery is present but fraying through wear. A good looking item.
