Roman, a silver siliqua struck for Magnus Maximus (AD 383-388) dating c. AD 383-388. Mint of Trier. Obverse: DN MAG MAX-IMVS PF AVG, pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust right. Reverse: VIRTVS RO-MANORVM, Roma enthroned facing, head left, holding long sceptre and globe. Mintmark in ex: -//TRPS. Good Fine, striking crack at c. 12 o'clock on obverse face. Scarce. Diameter: 18mm. Weight: 1.91g. RIC vol. IX, no. 84b. Discussion: Magnus Maximus, commander in Britain, seized power from Gratian in AD 383. Given official rule over Britain and Gaul by Theodosius I, he over-stretched his ambitions towards the end of his reign and invaded Italy in AD 387, being defeated by Theodosius at the Battle of the Save in AD 388. His rule in Britain coincides with an apparent exodus of military power, transferring many troops to Gaul. He features notably in much Breton and Welsh folklore as the legendary figure 'Macsen'. Modern, a proof set of three coins issued by the Royal Hawaiian Mint in Honolulu, 1991, commemorating the Pearl Harbour 50th Anniversary. Set includes three coins: bronze commemorative, a silver ounce of .999 fineness and a one-tenth ounce of .9999 fine gold. Presented in a blue velvet display box alongside certificate of authenticity. A LATE 19TH CENTURY PEARL SET BROOCH, the central flower head shaped mount set with graduating pearls, on a rectangular brooch bar of foliage and scroll metal detailing, set throughout with pearl highlights, on brooch pin fitting with safety chain. Length 4.5cm. Weight 8.2gms. The pearls are untested and unwarranted.

Circular gilt dial with arabic index and blued steel hands, blue enamel bezel and case back with engine turned decoration, hinged case back which opens to reveal a gilt metal movement signed LeCoultre and with cylinder escapement, trefoil pendant loop at 12 o'clock position and suspended on a seed pearl and blue enamel bar brooch 42 mm in length.
