Michael Shrubb was a renowned ornithologist and author who investigated the effects of farming on British birds. He was born at Sidlesham near Chichester and in 1968 he moved to Llanwrtyd Wells in Wales and later to Aberdovey on the Welsh coast. For many years he edited Welsh bird report and Welsh birds and in 2012 he received a Lifetime Achievement award from the Welsh ornithological Society. He was a co-founder of the Sussex Ornithological Society and served as a council member of the RSPB and of The British Trust for Ornithology.
