The technique involves fixing thin pieces of the shell into the wet black lacquer, then covering with a translucent layer of lacquer before being polished back to create a smooth surfaceCondition ReportOne side of the apron is partially detached and needs re-gluing. There are chips to the beading on the sides of all four legs, age cracks to joints where the leg meets the apron, and several small areas of loss to the mother-of-pearl inlay.
