Interesting East Turkestan rug, possibly Kashgar, first half 19th century, 8ft. 9in. x 5ft. 3in. 2.67m. x 1.60m. Overall wear, heavy in places with holes; losses to ends; ‘bites’ and fraying to sides. Note the terracotta field with overall ‘flowering tree’ design with archaic pale blue feathery lanceolate leaves emanating from the angular branches; the pale blue rosette inner guard and the dark brown ‘greek key’ motif in the terracotta main border, enclosed by pearl dot stripes.

Interesting Chinese fine cotton panel, decorated in blues, reds and whites with gold printed details throughout and couched thread outlining, depicting two playful five-clawed dragons chasing a flaming pearl, set among ju’i clouds, with white and black floss silk details to claws and eyes and to the flaming pearl, 19th century, 25in. x 24in. 64cm. x 61cm. Selvedge intact to one side only.
Taoist Priest’s apricot silk robe, China, 19th century, richly embroidered in floss silks and metal threads with dragons chasing the flaming pearl; Buddhist symbols among clouds and brightly coloured cranes; purple silk collar, hem, facings and sleeve edges embroidered in couched metal threads; part of the collar and lower front facings of ivory silk similarly embroidered, lined with coarse yellow cotton. Some wear and fraying to edges; shattering to silk in places. Together with a Chinese black silk hat with red wool lining; a child’s silk and brocaded silk head piece and a pair of black cotton embroidered shoes. (5)

EARLY 19th CENTURY MAHOGANY SECRETAIRE CHEST OF DRAWERS having moulded edge top above foliate inlaid panels to the frieze, secretaire drawer below with oval inlaid panels and fall front revealing fitted interior above three further cock beaded drawers on splay bracket feet with shaped apron. Turned rosewood knobs with mother of pearl panels. Circa 1820. 21" x 47" x 46.5" (54 x 120 x 118 cms) CONDITION REPORT: Top is stained and rather dry in places. Splitting and missing sections of edge veneer. Hinge to secretaire fall is damaged. Overall scuffed and worn particularly to legs and lower parts. Evidence of splitting to one side panel.
