An attractive folding fan, the gold coloured metal thread gauze leaf with ivory silk (?) appliqué border to both edges; decorated with gold coloured and silver coloured metal spangles to mother of pearl guards and sticks with pierced bone ribs à l’anglaise, gold coloured metal loop, 8½ in. 22cm. Early 20th century. In a white card Duvelleroy box with ‘842/39’ in black ink and ‘381 W’ in pencil on the base of the box. Small rivet to the left guard near the base; the fan generally a little grubby; damage and rubbing to the box.
