SYNARE MK1 SYNARE 3 SNARE DRUM USED ON JOY DIVISION INSIGHT & SHE'S LOST CONTROL. Drum synthesizer manufactured by Star Instruments with "flying saucer "like appearance."Pioneered by Stephen Morris, the first drummer to use them, the SYNARE had a wonderful present and attacking sound, crucially used in tracks such as SHE’S LOST CONTROL, INSIGHT and DECADES. Not very reliable but quite simple to fix. Battery operated. As ever the original was stolen in America. (see ‘Inside New Order’ book for details). Great for white noise and cracky snare sounds. Synare’s got better and better and Steve and I graduated to Pearl Syndrums then Simmon’s Pads, and used them for years, until Sampler’s took over."
