A 19th century coromandel vanity and work box, with mother of pearl cartouche, the hinged lid enclosing a fitted interior including pull out tray and bottle spaces, all containing hallmarked silver topped glass bottles and jars with star burst cut to bases, 'TW', possibly Thomas Whitehouse, London 1861, with central mother of pearl handled tools and with secure drawer below, with engraving to hinges and other metalware, width of box 30cm.

Lot 940

A rare pair of early 19th century Staffordshire Pearl Ware lions, each model on rectangular plinth base with one front paw resting on a ball, tails raised over their backs, with pink highlighted plinths, lengths approx 28.5cm. These models are based on the antique marble lions which stand at the entrance of the Loggia dei Lanzi in Florence, Italy. A similar pair are illustrated on page 196 in Pat Halfpenny's 'English Earthenware figures 1740-1840' book. CONDITION REPORT: One has had tail broken - a clean break at both ends. Crack from right knee to middle of back. The other has a chip to the corner of the plinth.
