Rare original vintage World War Two US propaganda poster: Twice a patriot! Ex-private Obie Bartlett lost left arm - Pearl Harbor - released Dec., 1941 - Now at work welding in a west coast shipyard... 'Sometimes I feel my job here is as important as the one i had to leave'. Published by the U.S. War production Board. Poster shows a photograph of Obie Bartlett holding a welding torch and wearing an uplifted welder's mask with a shipyard visible behind him. African-Americans were rarely depicted on World War Two propaganda posters but still were urged to do their bit, even though segregation was still the rule in much of the United States, including the armed forces. According to some statistics, the number of industrial jobs that African-Americans held tripled – from 500,000 to 1.5 million – between 1940 and 1945. Very good condition, minor creases in margins.
