Afghan flintlock Jezail, Afghan flintlock Jezail, with 47 inch sighted barrel, East India Company lock dated 1811, inlaid pearl stock with brass furniture and three barrel bands. Section 58(2) Antique /obsolete calibre, can be owned without a licence.159cm long The Jezail has a rusted dark pitted patina to all steel parts. The barrel has pushed up in the stock when it has rusted or the stock has warped, eitherway the touch hole does not line up with the pan of the lock. The action works in a crude mannor but does not have the positive feel it should do. The frizzen spring no longer has any effect on the frizzen which loosely opens and closes. Some pearl is missing from the stock on either side of the butt, there is some black filler around the trigger guard. There is a split area to the end of the forend past the final brass band.
