A mid 20c novelty mantel clock by Thwaites and Reed where the single train movement is powered by the weight of a line of ball bearings which run down a track and fall onto a 'water wheel' arrangement which rotates and powers the single train movement. The movement has an upturned lever platform escapement and mounted within a chromed frame standing on a rectangular mahogany base. The 5.5 diam dial has a silver chapter ring with Roman numerals and fancy steel hands, and the whole construction is covered with a rectangular perspex case with metal reinforced corners, 11.5 tall overall.
A late 19c French garniture de cheminee consisting of a columned mantel clock and two flanking urns in white marble with gilt fittings. The clock has four columns mounted on a shaped plinth supporting a similar shape top section into which is mounted the gilt drum holding the clock. This is surmounted by a white marble urn. The clock mechanism countwheel strikes on a bell and 4diam convex white dial has Arabic numerals with swags between them and fancy gilt hands. There is a gilt swag below the movement linking the two front columns and the pendulum has a sunburst bob. The urns have similar white marble bases each with a gilt foot, leaf shaped handles and gilt neck. The clock stands 18 tall, the urns 13.5 tall each.
A late 19c French mantel clock in the form of a stepped drum supported on four cast scroll brackets on a hardwood base. The drum incorporates the 5diam dial and is surmounted by a dummy bell and a five leaf finial. The whole case is finished to resemble polished steel and the dial has individual numeral plaques in white enamel with black Roman numerals. The dial is inscribed 'Anciens Establissements, Ch. Gautier Bordeaux'. The movement has a lever platform escapement and is rack striking on a bell. The clock stands 22.5 tall.
An early 20c Swiss mantel timepiece by Buron with barrelled spring movement and lever platform escapement. It has a 3.5diam convex white enamel dial with Roman numerals contained in a mahogany lancet shaped case with boxwood line inlay and an oval fan inlay below the dial. The stepped base has brass ball feet. The clock stands 9 tall overall.
