After a design by Claude Michallon (1751-1799) Centered by a column supporting a circular dial and movement, flanked by Cupid and Psyche, mounted on a conforming rectangular platform base. A Victorian rosewood clock by W N Farnham of Lyme Regis, the single fusee movement seated behind a painted dial with Roman numerals, minute track and Poire hands, in a drop-dial case with plinth mounted as a mantel clock 46cm high. Provenance: The vendor`s father was Lord Lister`s gardener. The clock was formerly in the stable block at Lyme Regis.

The trunk has turned quarter columns and it, and the base, have central carved panels. The square brass dial has brass spandrels and a silvered chapter ring and the Leuzkirch two train movement strikes hours and halves on a gong, 19" tall overall

A late 19c French mantel clock in bronzed brass and ormolu case comprising the 3.5" diam clock drum surmounted by a pair of doves on a gilt floral swag which is all supported on a bronzed brass stand with stepped curved base and all mounted with ormolu neoclassical mounts. The 3" diam white enamel dial has tumbling Arabic numerals with outer minute figures and fancy gilt hands. The single train movement has a cylinder platform escapement, 8.5" tall overall
Charles Hour, Paris, a boulle-work mantle clock:, the eight-day duration movement striking the hours and half-hours on a bell, with a sunburst bob to the pendulum, the backplate stamped with the trademark of the maker Charles Hour along with the serial number 693, the cast gilt-brass dial with blue Roman numerals to the porcelain plaques and blued steel hands, the red boulle case with engraved brass inlay to the red tortoiseshell, cast brass mounts, a cherub to the bottom of the glazed door, splayed feet and surmounted by a cherub blowing a horn to the top, height, 46cm. * Biography The firm was founded by Diette in 1852 who worked with Forin, before taking on a partnership with Charles Hour sometime after 1866. The trademark of D.H was changed to C.H in circa 1900 when Charles Hour took sole ownership. They were well-known maker`s of carriage & mantel clocks with an address at 7 Rue Saint-Anastase, Paris.
Lenzkirch, an Edwardian German mantel clock:, the eight-day duration movement striking the hours and `ting-tang` quarters on two gongs, the backplate stamped with the trademark of the maker Lenzkirch, A.G.U, One Million along with the serial number 58517, the square silvered dial engraved with floral decoration to the centre and four corners, black Roman numerals and the retailer`s name Borrell, Sheffield, with decorative fleur-de-lys blued steel hands, the walnut case having a curved pediment top with carved central decoration, with further carved decoration to the door and top & lower frieze, height: 33cm. Biography * The Lenzkirch clockmaking concern was founded in 1849 by Eduard Houser and Ignaz Schopperle in the town of Lenzkirch, originally making movements to be sent out to clockmaker`s for the final finish. By 1865 new financial backing allowed the company to grow considerably and complete clocks were now made within their own factory. They became a part of the Junghans business in 1829.
