Bautte et Moynier, an early 19th century Swiss ormolu mounted mahogany lyre shaped mantel timepiece with enamelled Roman chapter ring and classical mask pendulum decorated with foliate motifs, on later hardwood plinth with glass dome, timepiece 18cm wide, 8cm deep, 40cm high, with plinth and dome 28cm wide, 45cm high The firm of Bautte & Moynier, at 61, rue du Rhône were registered in Geneva as working from 1824-1831. Charles F. Bautte was recognized for his quality creations of watches and jewels, and his reputation was outstanding. Hole to top of dial surround. Chip to oval cartouche above dial. Scratches and rubbing to base. Rubbing to horse. Crack to hind leg. Loss to foliage near that leg. Repair to spear tip. It is likely to be late 19th century. There is some small areas of loss and wear to the gilding. Some very small loss of patination to the figure's fingers. Some wear to the dial siagnatures and numerals. Additional photos uploaded.The movement appears complete, it is running and chimes on the hour and half hour but currently out of sequence. We cannot guarantee operational use and would recommend it is seen by a professional clock restorer. With key and pendulum.
A good French Louis Philippe I ormolu eight-day mantel clock, circa 1835, signed Guyerdet, the 7cm silvered dial with Roman numerals, split moon hands, the keyhole-shaped case decorated allover with stylised acanthus leaves, the upper case sides with glass panels for viewing the movement, the movement striking on a bell on the hour and half hour, signed Guyerdet Ainé Paris and numbered 4105, with key, height 26 cm including the knotted handle. * For a nearly identical example of this clock case, see Gardiner Houlgate, Fine Clocks, 24th October 2019, lot 1324. This previous example was fitted with a movement by the renowned French horologist Paul Garnier, and featured his patented 'Pendule Portative' escapement, which required no pendulum. The case of this other clock featured a glass aperture directly underneath the handle, which allowed the escapement to be viewed from above. Our example holds a more typical twin-barrel, pendulum-driven movement, but the case is nonetheless of the same fine quality. CONDITION REPORT: Winds and runs, although the movement requires cleaning and calibrating.

The feet are not straight - some less straight than others. There is some damage to the clock face, which is visible in the photos. The body is in good overall condition, though showing signs of its age.
