Imposante grosse Kaminuhr der französischen NeorenaissanceHöhe: 63 cm.Breite: 73 cm.Das weiße Emailzifferblatt mit arabischen Stunden bezeichnet „Ernest Levi“. Die Uhr ist ein Beispiel von Rang für die französische Neorenaissance und des Historismus. Gefertigt wohl um 1880/90. In vergoldeter und brünierter Bronze mit Marmorvase. Der Aufbau ist überwiegend von den beiden brunierten seitlichen Figuren bestimmt, die eine große Deckelvase in Marmor flankieren. Eher untergeordnet erscheint das hier klein dimensionierte Zifferblatt im Vasensockel. Daher fungiert die Uhr weit eher als plastisch gestaltetes Kunstobjekt, in Reminiszenz an den großen Bildhauer Michelangelo. Die beiden Figuren, Allegorien von „Tag“ und „Nacht“, sind Wiedergaben der bekannten und bedeutenden Marmorfiguren von Michelangelo in der Medici-Kapelle Florenz von 1524-33. Auch die Volutenbögen, auf denen die Figuren sitzen, sind von diesem Vorbild übernommen, hier jedoch mit Füllhornreliefs bereichert. Der Marmorsockel über vergoldeten Spindelfüßen ist an der Front mit Reliefs und einem Tuchfeston dekoriert; die Deckelvase auf drei Bocksfüße gestellt, die applizierten Widderköpfe durch Efeublattfestons verbunden, der Deckel mit einem vergoldeten Pinienzapfen bekrönt. 14 Tage-Gehwerk, Pendel an Metallfederaufhängung, Schlossscheibenschlagwerk auf Glocke. Nicht auf Funktionsfähigkeit geprüft. A.R. Anmerkung: Levi war Juwelier und Uhrmacher, und führte sein Unternehmen in Paris, Boulevard Saint Martin. Das Unternehmen bestand bis ins 20. Jahrhundert.
