JAPY FRÈRES; a 19th century French champlevé enamelled gilt, brass mantel clock, the gilt dial set with Roman numerals and flanked by cherubic figural columns, further surmounted by a cherub, to stepped socle base and turned feet, raised on a separate velvet-lined gilt-heightened base, height 50cm (af). There is some rubbing to the gilt finish on the body of the clock and some verdigris showing through some areas of enamel. The rear lens on the door to the movement is cracked and the bezel for that door is a dulled finish, rather than gilt brass like the rest of it. Otherwise good condition. The movement ticks when wound, though this is no guarantee of working order. The back plate of the movement is stamped with the maker's name just off-centre, it is further stamped '999' to the left hand side and '55' to the lower edge.

CONDITION REPORT Cracks in faceThe surmount top gilt metal mounts are loose, the brass inlay on the left hand side are loose and one piece is missing, also loose on right hand side but all there. Does not appear to be working, scratches to top, key is present
