A 19th century Meissen porcelain 'Prometheus' mantel clock, of impressive proportions, the case surmounted with figure of Zeus brandishing fire with attendant eagle over the convex white enamel dial with gilt brass bezel, all in floral encrusted surround, the base with scene of Hercules freeing the imprisoned Prometheus amidst flowers and foliage, the whole decorated in bright enamels and heightened in gilt, with underglaze blue crossed sword mark verso, the clock dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, twin winding holes for a French brass eight day cylinder movement by Henry Marc of Paris and numbered 61306, striking on a bell, with pendulum, h.70cmCondition report: Small area of restoration to crown.Minor chips to end of torch in his left hand.Some chips to applied flower heads but generally good.Some flower heads from 4 – 8 o’clock restored.Hairline to Hercules right leg.Scratch to Hercules shoulder.Hairline visible to inside of back, but not to front.Eagle’s left wing restored.Otherwise figures and bird appear good and complete.Glaze, enamels and gilt excellent, bright and vibrant.Made in two sections, with signs of the join.Movement good, with pendulum.

A late 19th century black marble mantel clock with eight-day movement by JW Benson, 9" highCondition: The clock appears to be ticking at the moment. It has the pendulum and a key. There are a some small hair lines above number 12 and a larger hairline between 1 and 2 o’clock. The winding spring seems okay, its not been over wound. There’s some minor chips to the front and back corners of the case. No major cracks.
