A late 19thC walnut cased mantel clock, with an arched top with brass foliate scroll casting, brass break arch dial with gilt floral and foliate filigree, and silvered numeric dial bearing Roman numerals, subsidiary slow/fast dial, Lenzkirk eight day movement with coil strike movement, the case with fluted columns supports, raised on a stepped base terminating in scroll feet, with fret work panels to side, with pendulum and key, 38cm high, 26cm wide, 18cm deep.
A French gilt and patinated bronze mantel clock, Louis XIV style, surmounted with a bronze sculpture with a theme from the Greek mythology, Chronos or Cronos keeper of time, holding an hourglass and a sickle or harvesting scythe next to Clio a woman writing on a plaque, recording events. This is a theme depicted on many clocks from the Baroque era. The circular dial with Roman numbers, set in a waisted Rococo style case with acanthus scrolls, floral garlands and a classical mask. The movement marked 'Rollin à Paris' and 'Japy Freres - Medailles d'or - Annees 1823 27 34 39 44 49' and numbered '467 6', the sculpture numbered '4120'. With pendulum and winding key.
